I hate the NCAA autobid waiting period
If you haven’t been able to ascertain by now, I have nothing but disdain for the NCAA and think they are anachronistic bureaucratic boondoggle or an organization.

One of my biggest pet peeves is the waiting period rule for autobids. Any 8 full members of D1 ought to be able to form a conference and be afforded the same rights and privileges as the other leagues. Some conferences outgrow their usefulness and need freshened up. A group of 4 full members ought to have the right to invite 4 D2 schools to form a conference with them and receive an autobid as soon as everyone completes their transition—this way no one gets left in Indy limbo.

Am I totally crazy here?

The more auto bids you have then the less at-larges you have. If teams want to form new conferences then there should definitely be a waiting period for an autobid. Perhaps it is too long as of now.

The bigger issue I have with the tournament is with the play-in games for the 16 seeds. You effectively make 4 teams play for 2 spots. Teams that won their tournament.

The other play-ins for the 11-12 seeds are good. We need more teams on the bubble to play those kinds of games.

sorry no thank you..... I'd rather have the bottom 8 auto bids play for right to get creamed by the 1's.... then go from there. We'd get even better 5/12 games and even some good 4/13's.... Sorry/not sorry.

The system is working as intended. If you allow a bunch of small schools to move up at will, you risk driving the D1 FB conferences out to form a new governing body. Then you have killed the goose that laid the golden egg.

Yeah, I firmly believe the play-in games should only be for at-large teams. If you win your conference, you should be in.

There is value in discouraging too much movement. Conference reallignment is great for junkies, but it confuses the casual fans that are 95% of the eyeballs (aka $$$$) in March.
