Usually against the Sun Belt champ in Mobile. Not hard and fast though, this decade we've had champs go Detroit against the Big Ten and twice to Boca against the C-USA. Since NIU went to Boca last season it's probably off to Alabama this year.

Note for a while it was Mobile by contract, but the Mobile bowl was flexible about working with the MAC when necessary to place more schools ...
... and in the latest contract it's in a pool.

If the ACC were to end up leaving Detroit unfilled and if CMU wins the CCG, CMU against MSU in Detroit might happen, but that's just idle speculation on my part, and it seems likely that if the ACC has the choice whether to fill it or not, then if the Big Ten does fill Detroit the ACC would be likely to send a school to Detroit, making it a moot point.

I think ALL of the Michigan MAC schools are licking their chops for a shot at MSU. They are in disarray and this would be a good opportunity to get a win (though we'd all be underdogs). This is not the same MSU that beat WMU by 34 earlier in the season.

no because bacci is gone. also they are hurting offensively. wmu will not get another shot, emu will not be at ff, cmu msu would be a great turnout but i do not see it happening. msu i am hearing is going to pin stripe bowl maybe against pitt or wake forest. or msu in quik lane against bc

True. I see MSU going to the Pinstripe bowl too. They would rather lose to an ACC team then go to the Quicklane bowl and lose to a MAC team.

I think they'd also rather lose to an ACC team in NYC over beating a MAC team in Detroit. It's an unfair perception, of course, but MSU does not want the image of going to Detroit (even if that's what they "deserve").

I would think Illinois as a new bowl eligible team would be a Quick Lane fit

Reports are that they're playing Cal in Santa Clara.

Both of the ESPN bowl pickers have them doing exactly that ... and with 3 Big Ten schools in the NY6 (OSU CFP, Penn State Rose Bowl, Wisconsin Cotton Bowl) and the Big Ten in the Citrus Bowl this year, Detroit open on the Big Ten side, so they pick WMU for Detroit.

One has CMU in Idaho, the other in Boca Raton, both have Miami in Mobile.

But I suspect bowl pickers don't take the Go5 bowls all that seriously ... I could see CMU in Detroit too. And they might not be caught up on Mobile not necessarily getting the MAC champ.

CMU, WMU, MIAMI, UB, EMU are locks. 3 teams potentially fighting for a 6th bowl. Outside shot 7 MAC teams bowl.

So 6-5 Buffalo and 6-5 EMU are locks, but 6-5 Toledo needs a win? And Toledo "needs" KSU to lose? I would put money down that 6-6 Toledo goes over 6-6 KSU and/or 6-6 EMU. Hell, 6-6 Toledo might even go over 7-5 EMU.

Where the money
