The schedule, their suspect defense and the Tua injury is going to keep them out unless there are a lot of upsets in the last three weeks. A 12-1 team in a power conference that wins its CCG has the inside track.

Agreed. If Oklahoma and/or Oregon/Utah are sitting there at 12-1, Conference champs, it would probably blow up the CFP if both are excluded in favor of Alabama

I see absolutely no chance for Oklahoma where they are. Oregon maybe, but they haven't passed Alabama yet....

And yeah, the even more possible thing is Georgia beating LSU. LSU is getting in 100% over Oregon due to h2h.
If LSU's defense shows even a slight pulse against, Georgia, they will absolutely destroy them. Georgia has the resume so far, but I am just not sold on them.

Nobody is going to 'destroy' Georgia, just because of how many NFL-type athletes they have. The last 3-4 years, they've recruited as well if not better than anyone except Alabama.

But yes, the last thing anyone in the PAC or Big 12 wants to see is a Georgia win over LSU in the SEC title game. But, that very well could happen. Georgia and LSU are closely matched.

LSU destroyed Georgia last year

If Alabama loses to Auburn they will have 2 losses they are out. If LSU wins the SEC Championship game Georgia will also have 2 losses they are out. No 2 loss team has ever made the playoffs. If Bama loses to Auburn and Georgia beats LSU they may get 2 in.

The committee is going to reward a 12-1 CCG winner from a power conference over Alabama. Alabama is in this placeholder position at No.5. Without a game that CCG weekend, they need upsets. They need chaos. Forget the talent on Alabama. Focus on their schedule, which was not that strong. Look at their defense, which has not been that good. They have played well offensively, but just lost their star quarterback and leader for the season, which will probably not be a positive development for the offense.

As for Georgia, that 20-17 loss at home to a 4-7 South Carolina team is hard to explain. I don’t see them beating LSU, but if they do, then the SEC will likely get two teams in.

Agreed

Alabama has a really weak schedule with no big wins

They will be sittng at home while Oregon, Utah, and Oklahoma play championship games. All they had was the perception they are one of the best and with Tua out, they don't that. They need a lot of help and they need to beat Auburn by 50, and hope Georgia loses to LSU in the SEC champ game

Slim chances

Alabama would have beaten Auburn, something Oregon wouldn't be able to say.... They'd have the exact same number of top 25 wins....

If Alabama can hang a 35 burger on Auburn and beats them by 20 or so- it's going to take something good from Oregon to top Alabama....

Yes, almost as badly as Alabama destroyed LSU last year.

Those who don't want two SEC teams in the playoffs should become big Texas AM fans. TAMU has a lot of talent and have quietely rounded in to a nice late season form.

Could knock off Georgia or LSU this week or next.
