Some of the D2 schools that are private are smaller than Presbyterian. They may not be able to move up.
SoCon will not go after Bellarmine, they're full anyway.
UNA will 99.9999% not take an OVC invite after what was done to them and Northern Kentucky at that time.
Like I said, Liberty and NJIT are the only two remote possibilities (unless something drastic happens) of schools leaving the ASUN.
How's Ryan Aplin doing as OC?

Needs to learn we have RBs... playcalling routinely puts the D in bad situation. But other than that, good. All jokes aside, needs another cycle of recruiting to see what it can be.

Lot of AState fans would want to fight over that, they think he's the football messiah.
Really need to watch UNA play, be interesting to see how much Malzahn and Freeze influence his coaching.

Definitely a lot of influence from both with the passing game.

Liberty isn’t leaving the ASun. LU is happy and thankful to be in that conference. The only way Liberty leaves is if the AAC, Big East or P5 offered..... and that isn’t happening now.

That's what I was getting at. I wouldn't blame Liberty for that scenario. I just mean not actively looking for another non FBS conference outside of the Big East.
And I dont think NJIT is actively looking at any conference, but wouldn't be surprised if they got tired of being the "outsider" regionally in the conference.

How has NJIT not managed to make the America East happen by now? That's an obvious fit for them.

Good question...
I dont really know the dynamics of the American East, NJIT may not want in. Or the AE may not want them?

Murray State could move from OVC to MVC which opens up a spot for a football school in OVC which UNA would be picked to be with Jacksonville State.
Bellarmine is already an affiliate in Southern Conference, but also thinking of adding football. Getting the Louisville market would help Southern out.

The SOCON adding Bellarmine would be great for KSU, as the publics would try to keep the balance with a probable KSU add.

Again, the SoCon is full...
And UNA would not leave the ASUN for the OVC.
Bellarmine and the Louisville market would probably rather stay with schools that are in similar markets, in the ASUN. And even if they start football, they will have a home in the Big South, and if they dont want scholarship ball, Pioneer League.
Markets for the ASUN.
Jacksonville Florida
Atlanta Georgia
Birmingham and Huntsville Alabama (North Alabama region)
Nashville Tennessee
Louisville Kentucky
New York/Jersey (NJIT)
SoCon Markets?
Birmingham Alabama...
Charleston South Carolina
Chattanooga Tennessee
Johnson City Tennessee

Bellarmine is no longer considering football. The university president stated that clearly during their move to Div I. There is no interest or plan to add football..... unfortunately. I wish they would.

SoCon used to have around 27 members at 1 time. I would be proactive into expanding again because they lost so many members in the last 10 years.

They used to have 27 members, before the SEC, ACC, and SWC were made. But that's another history topic.
I dont think associate membership makes a crap when talking media markets. We are primarily talking major sports, Basketball in this case.

In a supposed nutshell? Told what they had to do by AmEast to get consideration for sponsorship, and then just moved up anyway. Schools are still apparently bothered by it.
Other stuff out there from the rumor mill: would rather be in NEC and was rumored to be in the crosshairs of the state merging them with Rutgers Newark.
Regarding Bellarmine...if they invest and succeed in hoops, they'll have a high ceiling.
