RE: MAC Basketball Week 3 (11/18-11/24)
I was actually surprised when I saw EMU was an underdog this morning. I know UMBC got the big upset 2 seasons ago, but outside of Vermont and maybe Albany, the conference is generally filled with cupcakes.

UB came back late to beat Towson 76-73. It was a pretty even game most of the way.

BG overcomes another long dry spell (0-18 run) and beats WKU 77-75. Will play UC who beat Illinois St by 1 earlier.

If I was a basketball player I am not sure I could handle being on the court with Gibson of Towson. Been awhile since I have seen such a selfish, whiny, finger pointing player

Worse than that, he was the best player UB had in the last 90 seconds: was it four turnovers and two badly chosen shots? He single-handedly blew the game while their best player barely touched the ball at the end.

Towson sort of choked the end of the game vs. KSU, too, although some credit is due to both UB’s and KSU ‘s pressure defense at the end as well.

WOW ... Just went back through ESPN's P-by-P and Gibson made one positive play and seven negative plays (turnovers/missed FTs) in last 7:30 against the Bulls... Good catch!!

No negative plays last 7 min vs. Kent State (6 pts) and only mentioned once in OT ... INTERESTING

And of those 7 negative plays I am pretty sure he would tell you none of them were his fault

Ball State made a school record 21 of 37 3s today in a 100-69 win over Howard. Kyle Mallers tied the school record for made 3s with 8 on only 10 attempts. The Cards even hit free throws--7 of 8.

Akron lost 82-76 @ #2 Louisville. Our best player went 0-8 from 3. What could have been had a couple of those found the bottom of the net.

That was an eye opening 2nd half, Zips could be the real deal. They basically dictated play to Louisville

BGSU giving Cincy a game. They're currently down 3 with just over a minute left.

BG ended up winning in OT 91-84. This win shows the resiliency of this team; not only had they been down all game, and hadn’t played very well at that, they lost Justin Turner shortly into the second half to a hamstring injury. Frye took over, but a lot of dudes put on their big boy shorts and gutted it out. I think WKU and Cincy are NCAA-caliber teams, so this is another good win for BG and the MAC. They play Nevada tomorrow night for the championship of the Paradise Jam. Great coaching and grit.

Congrats to BGSU! Heck of an effort. The MAC could be flirting with top 6 conference status in the entire nation after this W

BG wins 91-84 OT over UC. Justin Turner injured early in second half.....not sure but maybe a hamstring. BG comes from behind and wins w/o him. Frye, with 29, 9 boards & 6 assists, Laster 10 boards, Plowden 18. Turner had 10. All 3 of our bigs fouled out by the beginning of OT.

BG plays Nevada in the finals of the Paradise Jam.

Congrats BG! Hopefully Turner’s injury isn’t too serious.
