Let's check options in the fan excuse generator for an answer--high school playoffs underway? wet weather? cold weather? Jack and Jill's soccer tourney games? cleaning house before Thanksgiving? resting up for Bengals' tailgating with Steelers' fans the next morning?

We've developed a solid core of diehard fans now. Will others join us this weekend to see a top 25 college football team clinch a division championship and play on toward the Cotton Bowl? Let's hope so. We'll learn this week if Greater Cincinnatians are really hungry for a winner on a pretty big stage.

I don't mean to call you out as an individual, but I just don't understand this tendency among many to blame people who don't show up for their event as just using excuses as if they owe you something. This isn't about a parent or child who makes no time for the other at various stages of life. Or a situation where somebody screwed up but won't take responsibility for it. It's a money-making event where just about everyone involved in making it happen receives some sort of compensation. If your movie doesn't do well at the box office do you accuse the public of making excuses for not attending? If nobody buys your coffee maker is it because consumers are just making excuses not to buy? Are the huge majority of us who never attended a UC women's golf match just making excuses for not going?

Blaming potential buyers for not buying is more alienating than convincing. It's the seller's job to sell. Potential buyers don't have the same responsibility to buy your product. That said, I think we can agree in hoping for a huge turnout and encouraging those considering going to give it a chance. And if you can't/don't go to check it out on tv or radio. In this case, it is all good. 04-cheers

If your name is Elizabeth Banks you do.

I only got one email. To UC's credit, someone called me at work trying to sell me tickets. The cold, night game and threat of rain are probably keeping me at home.

If I could have any coach I wanted, I’d choose Fick.

Congrats - your best post ever!

Just got four tickets to Temple and booked my hotel for the Memphis game.

You were saying???

When UC doesn't release game times until 6 days before the game, my very busy life and family gets in the way. Obviously, something you don't have to worry about.

I totally understand your meaning behind your post. However, UC is not releasing the game time until 6 days before the game, the TV networks are doing that. Important distinction.

^^ This. This is an issue for most fan bases that are not named Notre Dame, Alabama, Ohio State, LSU, etc. Many of the P5 schools have this same issue.

Pretty sure it's an issue for those schools as well... except maybe Notre dame because their TV deal is unique

Yeah aside from Notre Dame home games, it is an issue for all schools. However, gametime may be more predictable for some than others.

If the weather forecast holds and we get rain into the evening, you can say goodbye to a decent looking crowd.

I won’t sit out in the cold rain and neither should any other fan that is there with young children, elderly parents, or family members that being outside is bad for their health.

I will do cold weather, I will do rain, but not both at the same time. Really hoping we clear weather Saturday night.

I can't disagree with anything you posted. Our local weather forecasts have been slipping and sliding this week on when the precipitation will begin and end on Saturday and the last I heard it will impact the game. Of course that can still change as we locals know in the Ohio Valley, with more than 50 hours before kickoff.

On the whole, we've enjoyed excellent weather for home games this year so I guess we're overdue for a nasty one.

04-cheers Hopefully we are fortunate the game is at night. Forecast looks like definite rain in the afternoon but tampering off in the evening maybe just cold with a few flurries. Probably Temple's best offensive lineman their center Hennessy is listed as questionable for the game; that could be a factor especially if the conditions are damp.
