That number could double by the end of this weekend..... Those start to add up in a hurry. Only have 2-3 Q1 wins right now likely- Purdue vs Marquette, Georgetown vs Texas(neutral- so only need top 50), and DePaul @ Iowa...

Are you seeing other conferences that have much more than 3 or 4 OOC Q1 wins? BE having 3 (or 4 since Missouri is on the cusp) is right in line from what I see.

Obviously it's hard to predict what a Q1 will be this early, but depending on what analytics site, looks like all 6 major basketball conferences (doing AAC a favor by excluding them from this example) have 1-4 Q1 OOC wins.

Big Ten has 4 already- and a 5th is very possible with Northwestern over Providence....

And the problem is that the Big East winning pct is only .833 right now. Sounds great but it's lower than the ACC (.911), B12(.897), and P12(.849). Tied with the SEC. With a round robin, that hurts a lot.

That's ok. Against "high major" (as defined by Bart Torvik, which I think is P5 + BE, A10 and AAC), they are .500 with 6 wins and 6 losses. I think all the other "high majors" besides ACC and AAC are also.

AAC 2-6 (but one of those wins is A10)
ACC 5-2 (but 3 wins are against Amer and Cal... yuck!)
B10 8-9
B12 4-4
BE 6-6
P12 6-4 (but they have some horrid upsets to mid/low majors)
SEC 6-6

those labels are so stupid. says a game vs Cal is more important than one vs Gonzaga...

The Big East needs to win games OOC. You say can go .500 vs P8 teams... That's great..... but that could leave the league with 30 conference losses. Which is the same exact position the league is in every single year. Most everyone entering conference play with at least 3 losses.... where then if a team goes 9-9 in conference play, they're struggling to just make the tourney.... And limits the top teams seeds

Yep, this is all pie in the sky discussion at this point and you can pick whatever metrics you want... because it really doesn't matter until more games are played and the NET is released.

Anything else is arbitrary... just like your overall OOC win %. Who cares that a conference has a higher win percent if they just padded it with more cupcake wins? That does nothing for their resume and nothing to show they're a better conference. Right now, no matter what metrics you choose, everything is looking pretty even between ACC/B10/B12/BE/SEC. Need more data from more games to see who's really better right now.

His scholarship was not at threat from being taken away at Marquette, he's not moving closer to family, etc. It, frankly, should not have been granted. In regards to Izzo, I'm shocked he has taken such an emotional stance over this particular issue, yet did no such thing or made no such threat when the off-the-court allegations regarding his program arose last year.

Wish both Joey and Sam well, but Marquette Basketball is in a better place today without the Hausers, and I will just leave it at that. Hope they do well at both MSU and Virginia, respectively.

the reaction from a Marquette fan was funny as hell-
wow, just saw guy from SMU got immediate eligiblity..... transfer from TCU....

have I said before how much I despise this rule?

The NCAA had the toothpaste back in the tube. Why did they open it up 100% more than it was before????

Hoyas hang with Duke statistically before falling 81-73.

30 fouls called on GU. 21 on Duke. I didn't see the game so no comment.

That settles it. Stever IS Kevin Pauga.

In all seriousness, I've never disagreed with that logic before. That is an absolutely certainty.

Refs not great, but impressed with Hoyas ability to hang with #1 team.

For all the talk about Midwest teams and it being "not the same Big East", I think we'll feel just fine about having an annual home-and-home with X.

UConn will be very pleased with this version of the Big East. No, it's not as powerful as the previous iteration of the league — which at its height was likely the greatest college hoops conference ever assembled. But the "NBE" is very strong. And some of the rivalries UConn can create with the Midwest Five (and I include Marquette and DePaul even though they were once aligned with UConn) will prove interesting.

I would be very excited if I were a Husky fan.

Marquette "won" against Robert Morris, but they were not the better team today. Game plan appeared to have Markus actively be a secondary option today to get more guys to score, and it backfired in a bad way. We stalled early and never got into a rhythm.

Much credit to Robert Morris, a 1-5 team, for playing like a 5-1 team that deserved to win today. Andy O'Toole is a rising head coach who I could see moving up to the A-10 (and possibly more) in the coming years.

Robert Morris is always really tough...

Providence making their fans nervous. down by 14 and that's after making a bit of a move.... to Penn(another always tough team)…
