Also in 2017, we, 8-4 USM got FSU in the Indy Bowl and CUSA Champ FAU got Akron in the Boca Bowl.

I guess this clears it up: primaries must get filled first before secondaries. Which sucks...but our secondaries tend to have much better opponents, at least in past years and this year's projections. Who knows...lotta ball left. But I'd be PISSED if my team just won CUSA...and we get a bowl game with some mid level MAC/MWC/SB team...while a 6-6/7-5 team we destroyed earlier in the year is getting a P5 team in a close location. Catch my drift? I GUARANTEE you something like this is going to happen this year.

You don't want a match-up with Top 20 App State in NOLA?

Only because they know they'd get bodied.

I'm not talking this year. I'm talking about future years. I wouldn't mind playing in the NOLA Bowl this year but ONLY if it's against a ranked App State team. If not, I'm not interested. Obviously I'd still go but we've been there, done that, bought the tshirt. I'd prefer to play a P5 or an old CUSA foe from the AAC. Every time USM has played in the NOLA bowl we played:

2016: NOLA Bowl vs. 6-6 ULL
2009: NOLA Bowl vs. 9-3 MTSU
2008: NOLA Bowl vs. 8-4 Troy (SB Champion)
2005: NOLA Bowl vs. 6-6 Ark State (SB Co-Champ along with 2 other Co-Champs)
2004: NOLA Bowl vs. 7-4 North Texas (SB Co-Champ)

We won all these games except the '09 game vs MTSU.

HD is 100% right. I'll add that the conference is going to put it's best teams within a region against the best opponents it can.

And no, the primary tie-ins do not have to be filled before secondaries as long as the conference has enough teams to go around.

Finally, yes, schools on both sides know who they will be playing before they accept a bid. That is why in the other thread I pointed out that FSU will sit home if their only option is to play FAU.

Someone ought to call their bluff on that one.

FSU would not sit home if they have to play FAU this year, that’s just stupid. Unfortunately there is a decent chance they would steamroll us just like they did USMin 2017. They like playing for Higgins and seem to be pulling it together.

As an outsider, it appears some of you want your champ to duck App State (like maybe UAB did last year?). Would you really prefer playing some weak 6-6 low tier P5 over a CFB Playoff ranked team? Just sounds weak.

No one should be afraid of App State. Their wins against UNC and USC are nice but let's not pretend beating those guys makes them world beaters.

I'd love for Charlotte to see them in a bowl. We have some unfinished business.

Here's my hierarchy for bowl game preference:

1. Access Bowl
2. NY6 Bowl
3. Bowl vs ranked P5 team, regardless of location
4. Bowl vs. ranked team, regardless of location
5. Bowl vs. AAC, regardless of location
6. Bowl vs. service academy, regardless of location
7. Bowl that as many fans can travel to as possible, regardless of opponent

Don't let your close win over UTEP go to your head. You wouldn't score on App if you played again. We are not going to a bowl and we'd beat you by at least 3 touchdowns. Your bowl resume is probably the weakest ever of any team.

Hahaha. Looks like someone's a little sensitive. What about the press conference for your new coach that didn't exist? Actually, he existed, he was just on his way to Greenville. The good thing about our down time, is that we know our coach has us on our way back. I think App is such a sore spot for you because you know in a couple years they may join us in the AAC. You sure won't.

Why don't you transfer some more millions from your so-called medical programs to keep your under .500 money hemorrhaging football program afloat before you come here talking junk.

Is that what your Coach said to his bowl chances? I'm confused you're all over the place, much like your D.
