RE: OOC Performance
https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basket...lie-debuts says "3. The Fightin' Blue Hens!" and has three paragraphs about them. UNCW and JMU lost the games dan10 mentioned above, and William & Mary led some before losing 75-70 at Oklahoma. Then yesterday was great with these scores:

Charleston won 76-66 at Marshall
Delaware won 79-64 at Saint Francis (PA) (the CAA didn't specify which Saint Francis)
UNCW won 113-53 hosting North Carolina Wesleyan
Northeastern won 101-44 at Holy Cross

The CAA Record Book doesn't have a margin of victory record. Northeastern broke their margin of victory record in their 2,360th game. The 57-point win was 1 above their previous record from a 128-72 win vs. Suffolk on December 3, 1984.

RE: OOC Performance
Games on tap for tonight:

JMU @ ODU
Bryant @ Drexel
Elon @ UNC

Looks like a 1-2 or 0-3 night ahead. Hopefully JMU can surprise and help attempt going 2-1. I expect Elon to be down by more than 20 by halftime and not get any better from there.

RE: OOC Performance
Of note for the conference: we do have 2 of the top 5 scorers in the country.

Jordan Roland for NU is #1 at 30.4 points a game
Nate Darling for UD is #5 at 26.4 points a game

RE: OOC Performance
Great night for the CAA last night.

Drexel picked up a double digit victory at home over Bryant

JMU pulled an upset road victory over ODU, despite their best attempts to lose that game.

Elon fell in Chapel Hill but led by 1 at the half before losing by 14

W&M got thrashed

Towson also lost bad by 22

Huge victory by Hofstra upsetting UCLA at Pauley.

1-2 against those teams is fantastic.

RE: OOC Performance
Hofstra had a bad start, was down 1 at halftime, and won 88-78. Desure Buie scored a career-high 29, made all 13 free throws, and broke a tie with Loren Stokes to be seventh on Hofstra's career assists list. His 7.2 assists lead the CAA and are tied for 13th in Division I. Jalen Ray scored a career-high 27 and made 5 of 8 threes. Eli Pemberton had 15 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals. Hofstra shot great, made 24 of 30 free throws (they only had at least 30 attempts in 3 of 35 games last season), and committed only 7 turnovers. Hofstra got only 2 points in 26 minutes from their bench. Stafford Trueheart returned from injury to play for the first time this season. He averaged 2.8 points and 2.2 rebounds in 10.7 minutes last season. UCLA had one starter not score, and another starter had 12 points and 6 rebounds but fouled out in only 18 minutes. His last foul was a technical, which counts towards a player's foul limit in the NCAA. Jalen Hill shot well, led UCLA with 24 points, and led all players with 12 rebounds. Hofstra didn't have anybody with more than 5 rebounds. UCLA had only 1 steal, which is tied for the fewest against Hofstra in Hofstra's last 88 games. https://gohofstra.com/sports/mens-basket...score/9177 has the box score.

Towson also had a player make his season debut, and that's redshirt freshman Nicolas Timberlake. Timberlake played 9 games last season before being injured, which was 1 more than the one-fourth limit, but the NCAA gave him a redshirt season. Tobias Howard, who was second on Towson with 10.7 points and first with 2.5 assists last season, has not played this season.

RE: OOC Performance
The CAA's OOC winning percentage got worse, and the CAA was 31-31 before today. Elon lost yesterday to remain winless vs. Division I. Charleston beat Providence 63-55 in the Wooden Legacy in Anaheim, for the CAA's second win over a top conference team in a game in California in nine days. That improves the CAA to 2-12 vs. the P5 + Big East. Riller scored 29 and shot field goals 9-15, threes 2-6, and free throws 9-10. He increased his points per game from 19.7 to exactly 21. Charleston's other players shot free throws 9-9 to be 18-19 (.947). Riller had 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals, and 1 block. Riller had 14 blocks two seasons ago, but only 2 last season, and it was his third of this season. Osinachi Smart was Charleston's second leading scorer with 9. Providence had David Duke shoot 7-8, one player shoot 4-7, one player shoot 3-7, and the rest of their team shot 5-34 (.147). They had three players combine to shoot 0-14 and not attempt any free throws. Charleston had 12 more rebounds, but 9 more turnovers. Providence attempted 16 more field goals and 1 fewer free throw, and they lost because they shot much worse. Charleston made half of their field goals and one-third of their threes. Charleston lost to Wake Forest yesterday and concludes the Wooden Legacy on Sunday. UNCW is also out west. They are at Boise State tonight at 9:00 P.M. and at Stanford on Sunday at 4:00 P.M.

Hofstra beat Holy Cross and Canisius in a tournament at Florida Atlantic in Boca Raton. Delaware beat Columbia to 84-76, and an announcer said they are 9-0 for the first time in team history. They got 1 point in the AP Poll from John Feinstein. Elon got their first Division I win 70-46 hosting Kennesaw State. KSU led 22-9. During the next span, KSU scored another 22 while Elon scored 61. KSU scored the last 2. KSU shot field goals .304 and threes 2-18 (.111).

RE: OOC Performance
Towson, who entered 5-6 (4-6 vs. Division I) played in D.C. for the second consecutive day. Yesterday they lead undefeated Liberty before Liberty won 66-54. Today they blew the lead in regulation before beating Tulane 86-82 in overtime. Tulane entered 8-3 with all of their losses to teams with exactly 2 losses. Brian Fobbs led Towson with 24 points and 12 rebounds. Allen Betrand had 18 points and 5 rebounds. Nicolas Timberlake had 15 points, 5 rebounds, and blocked a three with Towson up 4. Nakye Sanders, who entered averaging 8.8 points and 7.1 rebounds, fouled out with 9 points and only 1 rebound. Dennis Tunstall had 8 points and 8 rebounds. Tulane had three players combine for 71 points on 22-36 shooting, but the rest of their team scored 11 on 3-21 shooting including K.J. Lawson shooting 1-12. Towson had 16 more rebounds, 44 to 28. Towson could have momentum going into their next three games hosting Northeastern and Hofstra and at Charleston.

RE: OOC Performance
Quite honestly, it looks like a complete crap shoot for the association this season. Nobody really standing out and only Elon and UNCW standing below. Towson may have their fate decided just from those first 3 games.

RE: OOC Performance
I agree. Hofstra is capable of beating any CAA team, but all 4 of their losses are by at least 8 to teams in the bottom half of the NET, and they don't have any Quadrant 1 or 2 games. They opened with a 79-71 loss hosting San Jose State, who's 2-10 and 281st in the NET, albeit SJSU blew a lead and lost 59-57 at San Diego State, who's undefeated with only 1 other win by single-digits. I don't like when coaches say "it's tough to win on the road" to make wins at much worse teams sound like an accomplishment, but this season home court will matter a lot with the teams closer in quality.
