Yes, let's!

2009 Mississippi State goes 3-5 in the SEC West, tied for 4th (and last, FYI)
2010 Mississippi State goes 4-4 in the SEC West, finishes 5th
2011 Mississippi State goes 2-6 in the SEC West, finishes 5th
2012 Mississippi State goes 4-4 in the SEC West, finishes 4th
2013 Mississippi State goes 3-5 in the SEC West, tied for 5th
2014 Mississippi State goes 6-2 in the SEC West, finishes 2nd
2015 Mississippi State goes 4-4 in the SEC West, tied for 4th
2016 Mississippi State goes 3-5 in the SEC West, tied for 5th
2017 Mississippi State goes 4-4 in the SEC West, tied for 4th

Nine years, never won a division, only finished higher than 4th one time. And yes, there's plenty of evidence that Bulldogs fans wanted him fired during that span...

Miss state knows their role. Arkansas thinks they are Alabama.

The absolute truth & motivation. They still see visions some 60 years later of Lance Alworth & Billy Moore leading them to the promised land under Frank Broyles.

I like to call this "out of the frying pan, into the fire". Doubt he will do this... He has used other positions to get more money multiple times. Sounds like a play to me. Nobody leaves Auburn to go to freaking arkansas.

Malzahn has been on the warm seat for the last few seasons & will likely be fired if he loses to UGA & Bama (a real possibility, of course he could win them both too with that defense). I'm guessing he is looking for a place to land - and AR is the perfect place given he coached there & in the area as a HS coach where he is a living legend.

Once again I state that Norvell should not consider the AR position.

You don't think Norvell should consider Arky, but Rhule should. How do you explain that

WELL, not so weak SWC. Arkansas and Texas were both in Top Ten several times during 60s while in the SWC and other teams were ranked. Its demise was due to being too Regional, all Texas plus Ark.

I think they can but he ain't worth it. I don't think Malzahn is either. If malzahn goes to ark it wouldn't surprise me one bit to see Norvell go to Auburn

Either way Arkansas is still Arkansas. They cant change that

Should have added Memphis State Tulane and Louisville in 1991, when they still could have kept the thing alive.

I often hoped there would be a documentary made about the ole SWC. If you know of one out there, please let me know! I think it's a story as compelling as the 30 for 30 made about the Death Penalty at SMU. But then again, what do I know?

UT(Tex) didn't want to be in a conference with Memphis & Louisville - just like UTK doesn't.... too easy to compare the relative merits/performance of the programs.

I guess that the SEC schools want quick fixes and he did not do that. He got a nice parting gift in the millions and he will end up being a coordinator somewhere in the near future!

Well, Morris' contract calls for that nice parting gift but given AR's decision to breach the contract terms with the last fired coach, Beilema, & not pay that parting gift, what he is due under the contract terms, who knows? So... I'd say it remains to be determined.

He was coach for nearly two years and didn’t a single P5 game. With LSU and Missouri left on their schedule, it was unlikely to change. He took a struggling program and made it worse.

Btw - didn’t you guys fire Levine and Applewhite despite bowl appearances?

But to be fair, Morris was attempting to install a spread offense with Beilema guys who were recruited to run an old style B1G grind it out running game. That's a 3-5 year process to make that kind of change.

Quick fix nothing - the exodus had begun.

The boosters will let you go 0-12 your second season if there is hope for improvement next year, but it couldn't be more obvious that his team had quit on him and that had started to bleed into recruiting. Arkansas had lost either 3 or 4 commitments, including their top defensive commitment, and that's the end of the road for you if that happens.

I don't care what anybody says - high school kids aren't stupid, and you can't sell an SEC West caliber recruit on a five TD home loss to Western Kentucky. The Chad Regime had, fair or not, come to a close and I admire them for making the call when they did.

The difference is, the Southeastern Conference wasn't falling apart, especially in the dramatic nature, the Southwest Conference was. The SEC wasn't about to fold in two years, so the situations aren't comparable at all. Actually, foolish to bring up that comparison, at all. In layman's terms, apples to oranges.

I really get a little ticked at how some think Tennessee is why Memphis didn't get in the SEC, as if Ole Miss wasn't the one leading that fight. Especially given they had more to lose. At that time, Ole Miss was still playing the occasional home game at the Liberty Bowl into the mid 1990s, because of how small their facility was. I know for a fact Ole Miss hosted Tennessee at Liberty Bowl Memorial stadium in 1990 and 1996.
