American gets back their POY guard who was suspended for the first game. If we don't let him light us up, and continue to play hard and play our game, then I think we take care of business again. Hopefully, Andy will not be hesitant to mix it up with his banged up nose, assuming he's available..

Interesting that American's bio for their center, Mark Gasperini, erroneously states that he was 2016 All-NEPSAC AA Division Third Team, but he was actually just honorable mention. Nate was third team. Nate and Andy should be able to dominate inside as Gasperini is all they have to match up with.

American is a guard heavy team. It looks like they got 55 of their 80 points from the guard positions last game and their all league guard didn't play. A very good test defensively for the perimeter guys to keep these explosive American guards in check.

Siena outrebounded American 41-26, and they don't have the bigs we have. We need to pound it inside!

Dane should be familiar with Nelson and AU as they beat George Mason last season with Nelson leading both teams in scoring.

This game should not be close. We are a terrible match up for them. They will not be as athletic as High Point.

I still haven't forgiven Parkhill for the Tribe's collapse vs. JMU in the '83 league championship game.

But he did beat UNC-Cheat at the Hall on 12/7/77!

Loved Bruce Parkhill as a coach, but no one was happier than me when the NCAA instituted the shot clock.

Andy VV is listed in our game notes as a probable starter tonight which is great news.

At first, the Tribe was a 4.5 point underdog vs. AU, according to the site I checked. The line changed to +3.5 moments later, which tells you something. Either way, that prediction is waaaayyyy off base. The Tribe should win this one easily.

Maybe Vegas is giving AU a pass for the first game since they were without their best player?

But I also think Vegas isn't gonna be particularly bullish on us until we consistently prove them wrong, we were picked to finish 8th in the CAA, if I recall.

I don't know about winning easily. We still don't know exactly what we have yet. Each of these early games is a test on the makeup of this team. Tonight's test is focused on our defense dealing with high scoring guards. Can we limit penetration? Can we close out on shooters? Traditionally, containing guard play has been an issue for tribe teams.

If you put any stock in Sagarin ratings, W&M is #184, while AU is #252. Sagarin has W&M #4 in the CAA.

Tonight should be a good test for us. I don't expect this one to get out of hand in either direction. Massey has American wining by 1 and the game rated 50-50% on final outcome.

Our series record against AU is 11-34. It's one of those match-ups we NEVER outperform or meet expectations.

Based on history, I would be shocked if we win this.

Why we are playing at their place is a mystery.
