FSU cruises past North Florida. UNF leads the nation in 3pa. So they can be a dangerous team if their shots are dropping (which they were), but FSU was able to get many fast break opportunities off the long rebounds.

Is this Pastner’s last season?

I think it would benefit the ACC when the time comes to fire a coach that the ACC office can assist if if the school ask. Like perhaps with a non interest loan or with vetting a candidate.

All the schools use headhunters when they hire coaches. The headhunters are paid very well to do the vetting.

I realize that, FSU just used an agency to do a coaching search. But there is no reason to vet the same coach 2-3 times if other schools have done it recently other than maybe to gauge interest.

Boston College didn't with their last hire. Neither did UNC. Neither did GT.

I always thought that in most cases that the coaches used their agents to get interviews or to express interest in coaching jobs. Then the schools themselves would determine their interest level and the school would then do their own vetting the way they do for any high level higher.

RE: Open Thread - 2019/20 MBB Season
Two ugly results today.

Even though Clemson appears destined for the cellar or just above it, a 9 point home loss to Yale doesn’t help anyone.

Worse, Virginia loses 70-59 at home to a meh South Carolina club. The Gamecocks have losses to Boston U, UNI, Wichita St (by 23), and Houston (by 20), but they left Charlottesville with a double digit win. The Cavs are still #1 defensively, but are down to #179 offensively. That’s unspeakably poor for a power conference team.

You've never looked up the 3-pt shooting under Pastner have you?

VT beats Cuse @Syracuse. It was a hard fought game and maybe I shouldn't watch VT play as they turned an 8 point deficit into an 8 point lead while I was up on my computer during half time and early second half.

My opinion of Cuse is they have a lot of good shooters that can sink a 3, with no room, being well covered, and from 4 feet past the 3 point arc. They could easily go on a run and get into the NCAA tourney. Which they will probably do. Go on a 2nd half surge, be squarely on the bubble get picked to go to Dayton then make the final 4. Classic ACC Syracuse.

Well they better hurry up, their record is not looking too good.

Its not going to happen. This is the worst SU team since 1969. Thats the last time that SU had a losing record. This team has a lot of talent. They just dont know how to keep a lead and win.

What are the odds that Pitt knocks off a struggling UNC team tonight? The pressure -- a lot of pressure -- is on UNC. The crowd may be scanty and listless. Pitt's not a great team but UNC right now is a bad team. Can Ol' Roy rally his team after throwing them under the bus after the last loss?

I only care about one UNC game this week - Saturday, 1/11/20. I'll be cheering for Clemson to FINALLY get the monkey off their backs at the Smith Center! (BTW, it's listed as an RSN game at 4:30 pm)

Everybody other than a few depraved Tarhole fans will be cheering for that!
