well, in the Massey ratings, they are #9. so it's not like it's crazy. All the teams you mention have at least 1 putrid game- while UCLA doesn't.

Massey has Ohio St and Penn St as stronger than them but not Alabama or Georgia.... FPI dinging those 2 a bit harder for Rutgers(and for OSU Maryland as well).

It's definitely not crazy at all...

And the #6 Kansas ranking I mentioned, Massey actually has them at #35.

Why doesn't ESPN ding Alabama for Western Carolina and Mississippi State?
They are saying in their FPI that Alabama's schedule is 35 spots tougher than Ohio State.

I got my question answered and now I know. Thanks for the info!

I find ESPN's FPI pretty useless. I don't pay any attention to it.
