RE: CAA Men’s Basketball 2019 OOC Results
W&M wins by 17. 63-46.

ODU does not have anything this year. Headed toward 3-9 with their next opponents. After 1-11 in football. Ouch.

FWIW I am with Dirty and Doox re: VT fans. JMU and its fans are also like the Yankees, Red Sox, etc. within the FCS. I think our own fanbase can be damn obnoxious at times and it is highly recorded across various boards, AGS etc. I don't apologize for it - I love our passion and I think we are definitely above average in terms of football intelligence as a fanbase. JMU is indeed awesome. But VT since it made it to the ACC has done well to represent their school among the top athletic programs in the country. I do get the soft scheduling and the 1-50 vs. top 5 reference, but they are more than a mid-tier FBS program if you ask me. That said, I still enjoy calling them the Chokies. :)

Back to OOC bball... and the fact that all things ODU smell like pooh.

0-6...yuck. Didn't realize UD was 9-0 prior to today's loss

Ring up another one for the little guy...Wofford goes into Carmichael Auditorium (yes, that is correct) and knocks off UNCheat earlier today. Nice.

Nice job, Terriers.

Also on Tobacco Road today, Wes Miller's UNCG team came up just short in a 3-pt loss at home today against NC State. The Pack's Markell Johnson hit a shot from beyond halfcourt at the buzzer to win it. Tough way to lose.

The Southern conference reminds me a little of the CAA Years ago. The CAA would be smart to go on offense and look to add schools like Wofford and UNCG- they have proven themselves to be perennial solid mid major programs.

Not sure about poaching, but you're right that the SoCon is much more like the old CAA. And like that old CAA, still criminally underrated nationally and should be a two-bid league but won't be. Thus, the conference tourney is a bloodbath that is great to watch. Wofford, Furman, UNCG, ETSU, Mercer at times. So much tough depth at the top of that league and some truly exceptional coaching and program-building.

Might be a bridge too far for CAA as Wofford, Furman, UNCG, ETSU could plausibly view CAA as a step down at this juncture. SOCON on a certain level has a more rational value proposition as all the members except UNCG play football and basketball making for better all sports rivalries.

For Wofford the selling point is on the Football side. I could see something similar if the CAA added Stony Brook as a full time member/ the other sports would be the rationale there.

The Caa has rarely poached as a league unless they were forced to via attrition. Even a Vcu was added when the Metro football schools left for the original Cusa and the rams needed a home. But where has being a nice guy conference gotten the Colonial?

They would be smart to go on offense especially if it compliments travel and a North South division setup. For the right schools I’d expand to 14 if they could/ maybe you don’t get to 2 bids but it increases your odds of producing a school who can make noise in March and could raise the overall level of the league while providing depth of someone leaves.

Would wager that basketball is more important than football to Wofford’s athletic program at this point. And the rationale for any conference having more than even eight members in the one bid era is hard to fathom. Don’t imagine Wofford would want to leave behind rivalries with Citadel and Furman. Can see why CAA would want Wofford. Can’t figure out why Wofford would want the CAA...Gonna take something more seductive than FLO sports revenues.

RE: CAA Men’s Basketball 2019 OOC Results
Delaware’s good start has been talked about before. With the start of the second semester Villanova transfer Dylan Painter is now eligible. He played his first game last night and scored 19 in 27 minutes. He’s a 6’10” big and could have a Denzel Bowles like offensive impact on the Caa.

Blue hens look like the clear CAA favorite to me. JMU has more size than some with depth inside. We May need contributions from Wooden Wilson Jacobs Flowers and Christmas inside when they play Delaware.

Colonial needs to establish a basketball and football cross over OOC series with the Missouri Valley. Mvc’s series with the Mountain West just expired. Setup a challenge that encompasses both football and basketball- some of the schools are already playing one another- make it more formal and market around it.
