RE: CAA Men’s Basketball 2019 OOC Results
The CAA's lowest RPI of a team is 200 (Drexel). A bunch of teams in the 100s, UD at 39 and JMU still hanging in the top 10 at 10. This is the deepest I remember seeing the CAA since GMU, ODU and VCU bolted for greener pastures. Like it was said earlier, I expect this to help the seed and not the number of CAA teams in the NCAAT.

It's a shame that COC couldn't have beaten UCF the other night- they lost by 1 point in a very close game. UCF is down this year but wins vs the AAC are valuable for a mid major like the CAA (Hopefully JMU gets one on Saturday vs ECU).
Same for Towson vs Buffalo (MAC) a game that Towson could have won but gave away at the end. Towson actually has 2 vs Mac that they could have won- an OT loss vs Kent State as well but they are 2-0 vs the A-10 to even things out.
So far the CAA's record vs other prominent mid major conferences:
0-2 AAC
5-1 CUSA
2-3 A10
1-0 Sun Belt
0-2 MAC
1-0 MVC
Worst losses for the league members look to be San Jose State (Hofstra) and Cleveland State (UNCW).

Also why RPI is not really used especially this early. Here are the Kenpom ratings for everyone which is more reflective of where we are as a conference:
NU- 119
HU- 123
TU- 144
CofC- 145
UD_ 179
W&M- 202
JMU- 221
DU- 235
UNCW- 276
Elon- 322

Off topic to the CAA so apologies in advance, but surprising...no, make that SHOCKING...start to the season down in Blacksburg. They defeated #3 Michigan State out in Hawaii today and are now 6-0. Gloom and doom was forecast for a depleted roster and Buzz Williams gone with a new coach arriving.
Gotta tip the cap to the Hokies (as much as it pains me to do so).

Also off topic, but Mason beat ODU by 7 in a really ugly game. I know ODU is supposed to be down this year compared to prior years, but a real slow start.
It is hard to gauge teams until the conference season begins.

RE: CAA Men’s Basketball 2019 OOC Results
Northeastern lost to South Alabama (4-2) down in Florida today by 12. This moves the Huskies to 3-3 on the season. As usual, they are considered to be an upper-third contender in the CAA. In fact, ESPN's Joe Lunardi has NU as the CAA champ in his latest bracketology projections. They will face Drake (4-2) tomorrow on the neutral court in the Sunshine State.
NU has already lost to ODU at home by 7. The Dukes host NU in both teams' 2nd CAA game on Dec. 30th. While oddly Rowe's teams have held their own against Hofstra, NU has been a different story. Rowe is 1-5 vs the Huskies. The 5 losses were all by double digit margins. I think JMU getting off to a (hopefully) 2-0 CAA start those first 2 games in late December is pretty important.

A10 sneaky good at the top- better than they have been. Richmond, Dayton and VCU look very good early. I think Mason May be their 4th best in the conference. Umass looks solid too and Rhode Island should be ok.

Speaking of the A10-anyone know how we wound up playing AT Fordham both last year and this year?

I never understand the Hokie hate. Their fanbase is much more akin to ours than UVA or even ODU or Liberty. There's a lot of connections between JMU/Tech. Before we beat them I would go down to games as a Freshman if JMU was away. Their gameday experience is big time. I went to the Pitt game last weekend when it was POURING RAIN and they had the stadium probably 80% full (45k?). Their facilities are top notch. And while they haven't had the success in championships we have, we clearly are following their lead in the state when it comes to running a football program. Anyone suggesting otherwise is just in denial. Yeah, we were better than them 9/11/10 never forget. I think we can beat them in 2025. But if "they suck" why would that be a big deal? Too many JMU fans have such a little brother mentality when it comes to VT. When I was at Tech I wore a JMU jacket and I got a TON of complements on our team. No one was talking smack on JMU.
And yes I married a Hokie grad, but I felt the same way before I was dating her. I never hated Tech. Did I love bringing up 21-16? Sure did and still do(except for to my wife). I've been clamoring for them to reschedule us after they cancelled the next game we were supposed to play this year after 2010. But saying Tech sucks or hating on them? I mean come on. I'd much rather save the hate for the UR/UVA types that think they're better than us based on their clothes and income.

i can't stand the hokies because they think they are elite in football as a program....on par with Oklahoma, Georgia, USC, Michigan, LSU, etc, etc
when really they are more like South Carolina, Washington, Kansas State or Michigan State. Solid programs with good fan bases, but not elite.
they made a rep on soft scheduling, a couple blocked kicks, weak ACC, Metallica and Vick. But the 1 and 50 or so against Top 5 teams says a lot.
Not elite. Middle tier P5 program at best.

Same reason people hate the Yankees, Red Sox, Steelers, Cowboys, Patriots, etc. It's not really the team, it's their fans. I've been to countless Tech games, and I end up rooting against them every time, not because of who they're playing, but because their fans are so obnoxious, arrogant, and full of themselves. I'm fully enjoying their run of insignificance. This applies to football only, seems their fanbase treats it completely different than other sports. I actually pull for their basketball teams, but that might be because I hate most ACC programs

The difference between passionate and obnoxious can be ones own perspective. I've known plenty of people who have gone there and never had an issue with their fandom. Like Dirty, I identify with their alumni vs. UVA and usually root for them over most of the other Virginia schools (excluding the Dukes, of course). I'll be pulling for them to beat UVA and win the Coastal this weekend.

Northeastern and Drake are in a very tight game at the moment. 51-50 Northeastern with about 3+ minutes to go.

The height of arrogance is UVA (only because RU and W&M have fewer fans), and ODU and Liberty tie for rude fan behavior (got spit on at ODU, heard the racist comments at LU). I don't get the VT hate either, I've been to plenty of their games (including when we beat them) and I've never experienced arrogance or rudeness from Hokie fans.

Northeastern’s troubles in Cancun continue with a loss to Drake today. Maybe the team is spending too much time at Senor Frogs?

W&M ripping ODU...up by 16 with a little over 3' left in the game.
Also, Coppin State up by 11 at EZU with 6' left. Cha-ching!
