tonight's games:
630 247 IUPUI @ 33 Butler FS2
630 185 Mercer @ 97 St John's FS1
7pm 254 Mt St Mary's @ 55 Georgetown
830 Chicago @ 76 DePaul FS2
According to Kenpom?
Because Marquette played Loyola MD last night and only is rated lower in Kenpom b/c of the loss. So, if we go by yesterdays numbers, Mercer is second best.
Pregame, Loyola was 186(go back to the start of the thread). Mercer is 185.

oh, missed that. I think when I looked it up last night I was looking at Loyola Marymount by accident anyway.

Moving on to Wednesday night's games, Georgetown is making me look foolish for being high on them.

Georgetown wins by double figures, masking a competitive game that had no business being competitive in the first place.

A 12-point deficit at the half but a 25-point advantage in the second half/game. That is unusual. Hoyas win by 13.

An unusual stat from tonight's game (admittedly, I strongly follow North Carolina so my apologies if I come across as a homer):
Per the box scores I've seen, UNC played eight players and did not play 10. That is a differential that is very unusual ("walk-on factor" or not).

That one caught my attention, too. I seem to recall seeing that at about the 10-minute mark of the first half, Cuse had a mere two points.

who else is disappointed that UVA and Syracuse don't play in football this year to get a comparable score?

Howard is a remarkable talent. I don't understand why there is so much frustration from within the MU community about his usage. He is a generational talent. I'll enjoy every single remaining game he has.

Where is he on the all-time Big East scoring list? I thought I remembered seeing that he was within striking distance of the top couple spots if this season went well.

Currently, he is #31 all time (Big East) with 1,993 points. Troy Bell is the leader with 2,632 points. Entering the season, he needed 678 points to break the record. Assuming Marquette plays the absolute minimum amount of games (one BET game, one postseason game), which would be 32 games by my count, he would need to average 21.1 points per game to be on pace. He scored 38 in game one.
As long as he remains healthy, I think there is a very strong shot that Howard becomes the all-time Big East scoring champion.

this isn't good-
left ankle sprain.
would be huge if it's even a 3 week injury. Atlantis becomes in danger.

Georgetown senior center (and former NCState player) Omer Yurtseven is off to a strong start after two games (both wins) with the Hoyas.

Yea, that's pretty miserable. Not only would a win against Michigan State have been huge, but you don't want Powell chasing a bum ankle all season.

yeah- and even if it's just a 3-4 week type deal- that knocks out Atlantis with Oregon 1st game and other possible games that could really help the resume out.

Wow, not just disappointing for their team to start the year... but with all the hype around Seton Hall I really wanted to see what they could do. Guess we'll have to wait a while yet. Hopefully they still pull off some good OOC wins.

I don't think most people actually have issue with it usually... it's just that if he's having an off night or someone is actually able to lock him down he doesn't have great vision for finding his teammates for the help. I think it's the missing piece he needs if he wants to be successful in the NBA.
