Woods is really struggling with that knee brace. She's slow and really having trouble putting any arc on her 3's. She's draining free throws, but it's not a pretty game. That 3rd quarter was TERRIBLE shooting on both teams. Down by 11 early in the 4th.

Huskies lose 59 - 53. Valliant effort in a 22-point 4th qtr. Looks like a bit of rust. The Huskies had 4 players who played 7 to 10 minutes each, but not one point scored.

Agree on the effort, but correct me if I'm wrong ... didn't Northern have rebounding problems last year? I.e., not getting offensive rebounds =/+ second shots. Watched most of game on espn+. Did make some good defensive adjustments for the second half. Like the forcing turnovers and speed. But it seemed some are moving back on defense already when the offensive play wasn't over yet. Harvard stayed with it. Haven't seen the #s yet, tho.

Some first-game jitters. Woods and Poisson tentative; understandable with their injuries. Koker play was impresssive. May and Blackwell and Nickitinaite look better. Many, many promising signs.

But just one game. Now 7 on the road. Sheesh.

Camera note: would have liked to see a few pans of all the kids there. Good promo.

Next up is North Dakota State, Sunday, 1 p.m. No listing yet for tv if any.

Just got home from the women’s game. Very disappointing way to open the season as it was a winnable game. They have to be better than that. I’m sure they will be next time out.

I don't expect much different from the men's opener on Saturday. For some reason, NIU teams just do not seem ready in their first games. I know they should not be in mid or late season form, but it seems the teams are full of rust. This is not always the case with the opponents. Don't know if its conditioning, lack of instilling a drive in the teams, or whatever, but you almost expect it. Let's hope the men prove me wrong on Saturday.

No doubt Harvard came to play especially in the 1st half and our Huskies had a bad game. I will hold back further comments to a later date.

The official North Dakota State athletic website has ESPN+ listed among media for the NIU game, tipoff 1 p.m. Sunday. Fyi.
NDSU won an exhb game, has a game at Northern Iowa tomorrow (Weds).

With all due respect I might disagree with a couple of your player assessments but thanks for your interest and info

I expect a sell-out. But you know, if you can't get a ticket, my lap is always open for you. I know how much you enjoy bouncing on my lap and talking about the first thing that comes up! 04-jawdrop

I don't know any experts, least of all me. As I said, I watched via ESPN+, which did not allow viewing expressions and sidecourt attitude, or experiencing atmosphere, etc. Those can indicate a lot; there are a lot of nuances missing with a two-dimensional, limited view. Nothing replaces the live experience, which I was unable to get. That said, it's only one game.

Pardon the philosophical, but someone famous whose name I forget once said that without disagreement, comprehension is deprived of its context. I would add ... if that disagreement is not personal (some on this board can't help themselves). Also, since we're patting each other on the online back, noted your interest in WBB and respected. As oft-noted, some sports don't get as much attention as they deserve.

IMO, this board does a lot to keep/bring loyal Huskie fans together. Good to have available.

Have high hopes for this team ... I also noted in passing some TV scenes showed some Huskies on crutches, but the comments did not ID or discuss. I expect one was Errin Hodges (torn ACL) but 2?? Any info?

Here we go again with the injuries - both women's and men's. Don't even mention football. Getting really tired of this.

Just to give you examples you said Nickitinaite looked better-she was bad yesterday ave 12 pt per games last year she had 2 free throws total no baskets and more turnovers than points...Koker hit her first 2 shots then went 0-6 with turnovers...For a 5th year senior May got ate up inside and their big girl had 16 pets 14 rebounds...just my observations I will agree like you said it’s just the first game and they should get better but yesterday was not an example of that.

As I previously stated, I am expecting similar results from the men in their opener. Both the women's and men's teams have to realize that they cannot rest on the laurels of their big exhibition game victories because that is not reality. It is what it is - an exhibition. I'm not sure the coaching staffs get the teams up and ready when the bell rings. The intensity is not there. But, it's a long season. Just wish the teams would start attacking when the bell rings.
