USM (5-3, 3-1) has a BYE this weekend, thank gawd! Meanwhile UAB (6-1, 3-1) has to to go up to Rocky Top (I assume it's their homecoming??). Anyway, because UAB has to fight both the Vols and the SEC refs, I went ahead and penciled this game in as a loss even though I'll def be rooting for them. This USM/UAB matchup will have huge western implications. Thank the lawd it's at home. Not to mention, our guys are chomping at the bit to get revenge over our OT loss to UAB last year in Bham. I'm sure our team and fans will be glued to the UAB/Tenn game, in addition to the LT/UNT game. We're REALLY gonna be rooting for Fine and UNT to snag a win in Ruston. I actually still predict that USM will win the west because I predict LT loses 2 games out of their next 3 games (vs. UNT, @ Marshall, @ UAB)...while I see USM winning out. Anyways back to this game:
UAB 17
USM 28

Geese let the poor Dragons talk a little Rocky Top first. Seriously though TENN is looking tough now. UAB -10 is easy money. TENN by at least two touchdowns.
Concerning our game...all I can say is we must win this game. We are due but Abraham is not playing well and we are just a soft team and UAB is physical. USM has lost it's identity...prove me wrong...my early take is UAB 30 USM 20.

I certainly could see Tech losing 2 games, but don't see us winning out. We have some tough games left and no run game.

UAB's strength of schedule is 129 of 130. They beat 2 teams that are 0-8 and 2 teams that are 1-7. They beat a 3-4 FCS team. Their opponents from their 6 wins all have losing records with a combined 8-38 record.
One of the things I liked about this year's USM team was they appeared to be improving as the season went, but after the loss to LaTech, we are playing with a QB who lost his confidence and it showed against Rice. This bye week couldn't have come at a better time for USM.
All that said, I wouldn't be surprised if they beat a 5-3 USM.

Please refer to the game thread formatting thread.
https://csnbbs.com/thread-885369.html
Quote:8. Game time
If it’s a Saturday game, don’t list the day.
If it’s not, give three letter abbrev for the day of the week: ‘FRI’ or ‘THU’
Give the time h:mm followed by an abbreviation for a/p (a.m. or p.m.) and time zone (MT,CT,ET). We play home games across three time zones, it’s not obvious which one your game is in and not all of us have memorized which time zone all of the schools are in!

UAB is 7-1 against USM over the last decade. The last time that USM won was when they were 0-23 iirc and Garrick Mcgee was trying to leave the program. I am expecting a really good game and I am considering driving down.
The conference definitely did UAB a favor by having us play the top 3 teams in the west during the last month of the season instead of the first. We're playing with something like 35 juniors this year and like 15 seniors.

That’s correct, UAB is 7-10 vs USM.

Nice to know we're on your minds.
Ok that's all the trash talk I got.
I think it'll be a good game. My only concern is injuries coming out of the UT game. Would like a UT win, but most folks would prefer a CUSA championship run.

When you owned someone for the last decade, they start a game thread two weeks before the actual game...lol.

Again, USM has a BYE this coming weekend and if you've followed any of the USM game threads this season you'd notice I create our next game's thread at the conclusion of our previous game. I did the same thing after our game vs. UTEP earlier this year. We played UNT after the UTEP game and there was a BYE between those as well. Good luck vs Tennessee. I'll be rooting for them to lose.

USM's defense must play well. I don't think UAB's offense is comparable to ours.

Nice!
I loved this game and rivalry. I was part of the team that was the first to beat USM and never lost to y’all but it was always a fun rivalry and we always wanted to beat y’all.
I predict a good game but I’m worried about our offense seems to be clicking a little better with Jermaine and Lucious. But we have a gunslinger who may be prone to throw interceptions.

he's good for 1 or 2, BUT he's good for a WTH type qb run or downfield pass.

I hate playing UAB.. When they were bad they played USM like it was their Super Bowl..
Now they're good, and their fans are insufferable during that one week a year except for one, and he's insufferable 365.
