Appalachian State and Georgia Southern are 2 of the strongest non power conference programs in College Football history. I personally believe only North Dakota State and Boise State are in the same conversation when it comes to consistency (though Marshall, UCF, Houston and a few others have made unprecedented history in individual seasons). Alot of nastiness will be seen by fans over the next few days. But here are some stats that should make us all appreciate the rivalry:

Only 2 of Georgia Southerns largest 10 crowds were against App State and only 1 of Apps largest 10 crowds were against Georgia Southern. That being said...every game played between the two on weekends since the 1930's was a sellout. Sun Belt week day games have never sold out at Georgia Southern...they have always sold out at App...but a sellout at app means over 21,500...not really a sellout...just over capacity.

We’ve changed how we count attendance, so I’m skeptical that we ever sell out by the numbers again. A few of our games in recent years have looked packed, only to have an announced attendance of like 18-19k.

We've actually never announced a sellout, we just have record crowds.

This was just posted - not by me - you can certainly see how much they have taken from the stadium for the first end zone project. My understanding is that they are going to take up the track and also do the other end zone as well.

Track will be covered with new turf probably by next year. Gillin talked last week about covering the south (bank) endzone with seats once the NEZ is completed.
