Go Huskies, beat CMU!

As a season ticket holder, I try to make it back to the Motherland for a game, then to the annual bowl loss.
I certainly hope NIU counts season tickets as a b u t t in the seat even if one doesn't attend. That's why I buy the season tickets. Most teams do that.

You are to be commended for getting season tix and traveling to a game. I feel bad for you that the weather was so disgusting.

I do not believe NIU counts tickets sold in attendance. I believe it’s butts in seats for them. As bad as the attendance was because of the weather on Saturday, I think it was helped by the bobblehead giveaway. People line up at the stadium entrances waiting for it to open to get the giveaways, which are great marketing promotions. Now they need to do a Thomas Hammock bobblehead, even though we all know that a Rod Carey bobblehead would be MUCH more popular (especially for his legions of groupies on this board).

Season tickets should be counted in attendance. It's a ticket sold for the game.

I can remember getting a letter from the Alumni Association back in the 90's imploring everyone to buy season tickets so NIU could meet the (then) D-1 attendance requirements.

I've been buying them every year because of that, and to contribute to the program.

I would really like a big "neutral site" game, like a Soldier Filed or White Sox Park again. The Toledo game several years ago was on a weeknight, so I couldn't go. Imagine a Soldier Field game against a B10 opponent on Labor Day weekend Saturday. I had tickets booked for the season opener against ISU but the airport got closed for a day because of the hurricane (which never hit Florida).

The execution of the Toledo game at US Cellular Field was one of the best jobs by the NIU athletic department under STF. It did not get the attendance, but it was sure executed perfectly. The only element missing was having more of a marquee opponent.

I've been wondering if they try to move the BYU game there next season since it is scheduled for late Oct.

Dislike giving up home games, but the upside of a Soldier Field game is accessible/affordable club seats. Part of the reason Akron's stadium is so amazing.

Any thoughts on who starts at QB against CMU? Weather says high of 43, cloudy, some snow. Sounds like CHilders weather.

Talking about beautiful stadiums and amenities, anyone know where we stand with the Master Plan? I thought some repairs or upgrades would be done by now.

Yes, made my first trip to Akron last season, that is one heck of a nice stadium.

They were selling club seats 1/2 off at $50 due to the weather. Best deal ever. Never ending buffet, comfy seats, clean washrooms, shielded from weather. Palace.

Yeah, I think the Master Plan needs to be revised to something smaller than a "Master." Like a Mini. A Plan B. Maybe a C, D and E to follow.

I still can't believe the have done nothing with concessions, entrance/maze to get to your seat and of course, bathrooms.

NIU deserves something ... ironic if terrific weather pattern suddenly descended both of the last weekends and attendance tops official Homecoming.

I came up from Miami for the Akron game, good job to everybody, players, band, cheerleaders, for sticking through that weather.

The initial forecast earlier on in the week was for bright and sunny, which was the weather for Sunday..the day I left, of course.

Sitting in that cold rain brought back a lot of Dekalb memories. My Florida-born daughter now has a lot more respect for her dad growing up in Illinois.

Props to you for making the trip all the way from Florida!! We need more fans like you!!

Yeah, one with a really big head.....and mouth.

That kickoff return was really stupid too.
