I don't know if I can stomach another Kinney game. I appreciate he knows his MAC football but I feel much like Brennaman , there is a bit more excitement when the non-Illinoize team is doing well. Although I guess Huskies are on real tv rest of the way?

Not necessarily. The last game (vs. WMU) on November 26 could be on ESPNU or it could be on ESPN3 or ESPN+. I guess it would depend on if the game means anything.

I loved N. Illinois in the MAC Championship end zone...

I saw "Nill" on one of the betting sites. Like our chances of winning a bowl game.

UNI Panther fan here - I thought this thread was great because we have the same issues.
We prefer "UNI" or "Northern Iowa."

I can see where being called "you-knee" would get irritating. Sympathies on this end (seriously). Imo, it's an uphill battle because if you try to "correct" the media, they get all ego-flustered about being in charge of whatever. Whatever happened to "don't care what you say, just get my name right" or whatever that cliche is.

Ps. Love the Dome, but it doesn't help when many call it the "you-knee-dome," pronouncing UNI as a word. You really need another name for it. Love to have one here. Sadly, at 16,000-plus capacity, we might even fill it.

Yes, the dome gets nicer as the season goes on.
And yeah, it is weird we call it the uni-dome ("You-nee-Dome").

Somehow, broadcasters mess up so much about us. They see "UNI" and refer to us as "Northern Illinois" - or they say we're from Cedar Rapids. Just funny that their heads are going to explode on Saturday.

I worked with a girl who went to UNI for college at the same time her older sister was attending NIU. Her mom was very confused by both schools abbreviations and she simply made all tuition checks payable to "NIU" regardless of which daughter's tuition she was paying. This drove the younger daughter crazy to say the least. Needless to say Northern Iowa had no qualms/issues with cashing checks made out to NIU.

So I clicked on it to see how our Huskies were doing...instead it's "Northern Iowa vs Wichita St"

The disrespect is real....

I would not mind the announcers mistakenly call the men’s basketball team Northern Iowa. But I guess if they watched the Huskies play, they wouldn’t be making that mistake.
