Simulated BCS standings: Ohio St #1, LSU #2, Alabama #3
What would the rankings look like if the BCS was still being used instead of the CFP committee?

The answer, at least at the end of the season: Not much difference. In every year of the playoff, the committee has chosen the same four teams that this simulated BCS ranking would have chosen.

This BCS simulation (posted on Twitter every week at https://twitter.com/bcsknowhow) uses the AP and coaches polls, the same six computer rankings used by the BCS, and the same weighting used in the last years of the BCS.

The biggest difference between these rankings and the polls is the influence of computer rankings that give more weight than most poll voters to simply having fewer losses and to margin of victory regardless of opponent.

Ohio State's move in this week's polls pushed them over LSU in this ranking.

Is there an old-fashioned BCS standings with only the computers? The polls formula was just a powergrab by media and coaches.

BCS formulas always included the polls. After the first few years they weighted polls and computers differently, and stopped using the AP poll when they formed the "Harris poll", but polls were included in every year of the BCS.

Pleasantly surprised to see Ohio St at 1. I expected to see LSU there
