This was just from a quick search- there may be more in place:
2021:
09/04 - Morehead State
09/18 - at Weber State

2022:
09/03 - Weber State
09/10 - Norfolk State
11/05 - at Louisville

JMU also plays Campbell at home in 2021.

I think getting this series signed with Weber State also says alot about Cignetti as a coach.....since at the end of the day Cignetti has to say yes/no to the series.

For a little more insight into this series, listen to the Walkthrough podcast with Madia. He interviewed Bourne about the game and he said they first talked about it when Weber State came to Harrisonburg. Through the last few years they have kept in touch and it just worked out between them and us.
Another very important note: Bourne said that when these deals are brought to them from different schools, they only want games where the time frame makes sense. What he means is that each school should travel to the other in a reasonable amount of time. If the other school cannot return the favor in four or five years that isn't a deal that they want, which I completely agree with.

Weber series makes me happy. I've wanted a top 10 program series for many years. Can't wait for it, and it's also one I could see myself traveling to. Also Weber is from one of the other 2 FCS power conferences. Hope we are both as good 2 & 3 years from now.

Of course on the Debbie downer side it's obvious a move to FBS in the next few years does not appear to be likely.

Yeah but there is a difference to a more local OOC/FCS Road game than traveling all the way to Utah to face what has become a perennial top 10 FCS team. I’m all for JMU playing tougher schedules in all sports but the philosophy in Football seems to be 1 tough road game, 1 somewhat challenging road game and 2 Home games in the OOC. If the travel to Weber game was in a year where JMU has to travel to an FBS as well they could risk 2 losses in the OOC and they don’t seem to want to do that.

Personally it would be nice to pair the Weber with a more winnable FBS game against a Mac team but I think those winnable FBS games have become tougher and tougher to schedule for JMU.

As has been discussed on other threads the transition period is such that JMU could be non bowl eligible FBS in the last year if the Weber series. I’m sure there are provisions in the agreement that give JMU an out if they need one based on timing of FBS. Post 2022 I believe JMU just has a game vs Morehead which could be a cupcake game no matter what the division is that they play in at the time and a road game at UNC which could be an OOC game in either division.

If they start loading up on 2023 2024 2025 OOc FCS games I guess you could read into that but they are only scheduling a few years out so I don’t really think this impacts their plan and timeline to move up.

Since it's seems to be getting harder for good FCS programs to schedule good FBS programs; it makes me wonder if this will become more of a trend in the future...good FCS programs scheduling peer OOC FCS programs?

97, what you presented is not the norm. A normal season only has 3 OOC games. After this season, the next isn't until 2024.

The North Dakota State Bison have added the UAlbany Great Danes and the Valparaiso Crusaders to their 2021 football schedule, FBSchedules.com has learned.

North Dakota State will host UAlbany at the Fargodome in Fargo, N.D., on September 4, 2021. The Bison will pay the Great Danes a $250,000 guarantee for the contest, according to the copy of the contract.

The 2021 matchup between North Dakota State of the Missouri Valley Football Conference and UAlbany of the Colonial Athletic Association will mark their first-ever meeting on the gridiron.

A week after North Dakota State hosts UAlbany, the Valparaiso Crusaders of the Pioneer Football League will make the trip to face the Bison at the Fargodome (September 11). The Crusaders will receive a $240,000 guarantee for playing the game, per the contract copy.

In their first and only meeting on the gridiron back in 2004, North Dakota State crushed Valparaiso 52-0 at the Fargodome.

UAlbany and Valparaiso are the first two non-conference opponents scheduled for North Dakota State for the 2021 season. The Bison need one more opponent to finish their slate.

North Dakota State’s Missouri Valley opponents and dates in 2021 have already been announced. The Bison will host Northern Iowa, Missouri State, Indiana State, and South Dakota and will play at North Dakota, Illinois State, South Dakota State, and Youngstown State.

North Dakota State is the second known non-conference opponent for UAlbany’s 2021 schedule. The Great Danes are also slated to play at Syracuse on Sept. 18.

The UAlbany at Syracuse contest in 2021 was previously scheduled for Sept. 4 that season. Syracuse will pay UAlbany an additional $10,000 for moving the game, which makes the total guarantee $360,000.

With the addition of North Dakota State, Valparaiso now has two non-conference opponents set in 2021. The Crusaders are also scheduled to host Dartmouth on Sept. 18.
https://fbschedules.com/north-dakota-sta...o-in-2021/

NDSU is also paying NC A&T 240k for a one and done for 2020. I'm assuming JMU isn't willing to fork over 250k range for decent OOC for one and dones..

Good Lord. They will be Valpo 90-0.

Yeah, the smelly Bisons aren't much for scheduling teams that have a chance to beat them.

Say what? In the past 6 seasons (since 2014) NDSU has had home and home with:
-Weber
-Montana
-EWU
-UD
They’re paying NC A&T 250k for a one and done next season.

After winning 6 straight vs I-A, 5 of those vs Big 10/Big 12, between 2010-2016, its not their fault if they can’t get I-A teams to schedule them most seasons now (none 2015, 2017-2019, 2021, they do have Oregon next season and Arizona 2022).

With that being said, they had NO business scheduling non scholly Butler this season, & non scholly Valpo next season, just like JMU has NO business scheduling non scholly Morehead.

Yep. The pattern is 3 of every 11 seasons I think (2008 JMU only scheduled 11). 2002, 2003, 2008, 2013, 2014, 2019, 2024, 2025, 2030...

Gotcha- assuming we remain FCS is the formula that most would prefer 1 buy game against lower level FCS but ideally not a total cupcake, home and home with strong to elite level FCS program and away at FBS?

In years where we have 4 OOC games- 1 buy game against lower level FCS but ideally not a total cupcake, home/home vs strong to elite FCS program, away at G5 FBS, and away at P5 FBS?

I think that's what we should aspire to for as long as we are FBS. The divide between JMU and the CAA schools is getting bigger so the risk of 2 OOC losses in years where you have 4 OOC games is neutralized by the fact that most years JMU should lose 1 game tops in conference.

RE: JMU announces 2021 & 2022 home & home series with Weber St
Hey Dukes fans, Weber fans are very excited for these games. Big hats off to both schools for making these games happen and to both coaches for agreeing to play them. We just hope Weber keeps its recent history of success going and that Jay Hill is still our HC when these games are played. This really is the golden age of Weber football. Until recently Weber had always been a basketball school with a mediocre football team. Coach Hill has totally changed that. The playoff game was one of the more exciting and heartbreaking games in our 100 years of playing football. I have a brother who attended that game and he speaks highly of your stadium, fans, and the local area out there. I'm hoping to make the trip and hoping many Dukes fans make the trip out west. Ogden is a short and easy drive from Salt Lake International. It will be too early for skiing, dang it, but if you can spend a week or so there is plenty to see throughout the region and State, including several national parks within a 5 hour drive of Ogden. As has been mentioned, the NPs of S Utah are unbelievably scenic. We refer to them as the Mighty 5. I was just in Canyonlands this past weekend and have visited all of them several times. September is the best time of year to visit them, IMO. Anyway, good luck until we meet in two seasons.

2020:
-9/12 - Chattanooga
-11/21 - @ UNC ($500,000 payday)
-Add a home cupcake.
6 home/5 away.

2021:
9/4 - Morehead
9/18 - @ Weber
11/6- Campbell
6 home/5 away.

2022:
9/3 - Weber State
9/10 - Norfolk State
11/5 - @ Louisville ($600,000 payday)
6 home/5 away.

2023:
9/9 - Morehead State
-Add a home game with a quality OOC as part of a home & home #1.
-Add @ a P5.
6 home/5 away.

2024 (12 game season): None yet announced.
-Add an away game with a quality OOC as part of a home & home #1.
-Add @ a P5.
-Add 2 home cupcakes.
6 home/6 away.

2025 (12 game season):
11/22: @ UNC ($500,000 payday)
-Add an away game with a quality OOC as part of a home & home #2.
-Add 2 home cupcakes
6 home/6 away.

2026:
-Add a home game with a quality OOC as part of a home & home #2.
-Add a home cupcake.
-Add @ a P5.
6 home/5 away.

Obviously if a move up is made prior to OOC games, would have to be contract stipulations for any increased $$$ from the P5s, and buyouts of away I-AA OOC.

Cannot wait to tailgate here!!!!

Stewart Stadium now looks a little different then when this picture was taken. That looks like the NDSU game in 2014. They just built a new football center on the north side of the stadium and added two new video boards, including one that measures 2,000 square feet. I'm biased of course, but I think the setting at Stewart Stadium rivals any in college football. It sits on the bench of Mt Ogden of the Wasatch Mountain Range. Great mountain views and you have a good view to the west of the Great Salt Lake in the distance. The sunsets can be absolutely beautiful, although that can depend on the air quality during late summer and early fall due to wildfire season.

So in 2021 the game before playing JMU, Weber is playing at division 2 Dixie State?! Playing at Norfolk State suddenly doesn’t seem so bad.

Wow, traveling to a DII. I consider that two steps below. Playing a DII is one thing but traveling there is a whole different deal.

Dixie St will be FCS Independent starting next season. They'll join the WAC for other sports. They've already scheduled games with at least half the Big Sky, and several MVFC schools.

Will they be a full scholly FCS independent or one like Davidson, FCS in name only?

Full Scholly. They're located in St George, UT, about 1.5 hrs from Vegas, in one of the fastest growing areas in the country. Their facilities are already on par with many Big Sky schools. It will probably take some time for them to start winning at the D1 level, but they should eventually be pretty solid. Wouldn't be a surprise to see them in the Big Sky at some point.

Davidson isn’t an independent. They’re in the non scholly Pioneer League.

Dixie St sounds like they are going full (63) scholly.

Looking at their future schedules 2020 on it looks like Dixie St is playing mostly Big Sky, MVFC, and Southland..
