That's a very improbable scenario. To host that means La Tech beats Marshall, but if they do that most likely means Marshall won't make the championship game. We would be behind FAU, WKU and Middle.

Very possible all of those teams have another loss by years end, so not that improbable.

Fun fact: Rice is NOT mathematically eliminated from the college football playoff! The committee can literally put any four teams in it they wish, and to them, I say, “ Why not Rice?!”

Heck, toss in ODU and UTEP too. Although really Rice v UTEP (upcoming) should serve as a de facto elimination game for playoff consideration.

I guess the West will be mostly decided in the next 3 weeks

that UAB vs LT game is going to be vitally important for really any of the remaining West teams to potentially win it.

Long shot, but who gets in if:

6-2 UAB (loss @USM, @WKU) - beat LT
6-2 LT (loss @UAB, @Marshall) - beat USM
6-2 USM (loss @LT, @FAU or WKU) - beat UAB

Guess it would depend on which East team ended up where in their finishes.

Warren Nolan predicts UAB vs Marshall for the Championship (Birmingham hosting). Honestly I agree right now. BUT has ESPN decided game time for the Tech-UAB game? If I'm going to come down to attend again, I'd like to know if it is possible with a time for the game. Last time at Legion was a cool road trip.
