Have your next candidate already in mind.

Well, WVU is P5 and he said no thanks.
UL as well. Those of you who want to give him the Michigan State job I think you have a much better chance of winning at UL.

He also turned down Maryland. But that won't stop the usual Negative Nellies around here from claiming that Fickell will leave for his first P5 job offer...

Bolded, likely in my mind. Maybe Hudson has some friends at Michigan who would like to join him and play next season in Cincinnati. Wouldn't that be an interesting turn of events on Harbaugh's transfer obstruction?

Of course they would. It's Nick Saban. Tommy Tuberville is 65 and was 2-time SEC Coach of the Year. Does that make him a good candidate? The Miles to Michigan ship sailed in 2007 when they failed to grab him and got RichRod instead.

So many people are so convinced that an osu guy would never coach at michigan, and also that michigan would never hire an ohio guy.
What about Bo Schembechler? He was the heir apparent at osu and left for his own career. I dont think either side would be nearly as petty as many seem to believe. I mean Mick Cronin would never leave his alma mater for arch-rival Louisville right? And he left to be an assistant. Most people do what they believe is best for themselves and their family. Michigan will hire anybody they think will win. They'd grab Meyer or Day in a heartbeat not caring AT ALL that they were osu guys. If they believe Fickell is good enough they'd grab him too. I personally dont think he's shown enough to be a serious candidate for them though.

"Driven by our enemies". Impressive hyperbole, and I wonder who he means by enemies. I suspect a growing number of those "enemies" lie within the Michigan fan base who are increasingly turned off by his personality and consistently mediocre results on the field.

How old was Lloyd Carr when they hired his old carcass?

You aren't addressing the smoke here.

Why did 66 year old Les Miles get back into coaching? ...And at Kansas at that?

Where there's smoke there's fire.

Les Miles takes the job at Kansas to hone his skills for a year or two or three until Michigan figures out a way to get rid of another Michigan man... which they should have done before now... but they're afraid to... because he's a Michigan man.

I get the cultish Michigan man thing, but Carr was 50 when he was hired. He was 62 when he retired/ got forced out.

He was also at Michigan since he was 36...this is a completely different situation.

RE: Football Scoop: Jim Harbaugh Eyeing Exit Strategy
North Carolina hired Mack Brown back and he's 68. We're just spitballin' but I don't think age is going to have much to do with Les Miles' hire from Michigan's perspective. You're talking about a guy who won pretty big in the SEC who also happens to be a former Wolverine player. He also likes to run the ball and play top defense. Wonder where he got that from? Michigan tried the up-n-comer, "hot name" route with Rich Rod and Hoke and where did that get them? There's no denying Miles' numbers at LSU:

12 seasons
114-34 [.770]
3 SEC Division Chips
2 SEC Conference Chips
8-4 Bowls
2 BCS Chip Appearances
1 BCS Chip

It takes two to tango so if only one is interested it becomes moot. That said, it's fun to consider the possibility...

We could only keep his older brother Watson here one year but a great Bearcat memory winning at Happy Valley!

And what a strange story that was--arguably the biggest win in school history, a losing season and farewell to Watson. My how times have changed in Clifton.

Miles is persona non grata at Michigan. He was banging Gary Moeller's wife which is what led to his drunken meltdown. As long as Lloyd Carr is still alive and has any pull Miles will NEVER be the coach up there.

I'd think Hardbaugh`s exit might make the Cory Kiner sweepstakes more interesting....

Anyone else thinking about the Micheal Douglas movie Fallen Down when they look at Harbaugh now and just waiting for the incident that sends him off the edge.

Losing to Ohio St in the Big House to finish 0-5 against them will do it. Probably at the podium postgame...

I know Things have changed over the years, and everyone Want immediate satisfaction.

But will things ever consistently turn back to keeping a coach long time, and be almost a lifer? Huggs At WVU is an example. Most people wouldn’t stay there. he will probably stay till he retires and they are a solid team most years and have long term stability.
