RE: Week 8 Attendance
How much does the lack of an FCS semifinal game play into the numbers? How much does Thursday night games play into the numbers in FBS? It takes time to build familiarity. Takes time.

I'm surprised we aren't higher than 10th and that we are not on the list multiple times.

I believe this is because app stadium expansion didnt occur until 2008. 2009 GA Southern was so bad that it lost some luster....2013 App was the worst App team in 20 years and killed the hype...and all the sun belt games have been ditched to weekday purgatory

Anything under 20K isn't good. The conference is getting stronger (except for a couple of teams, South included). SBC is not the same since App. St and Southern joined. ULM and Georgia State, no doubt have made giant strides and are very competitive. The future looks bright in my view.

On another note, HOW can S. Alabama get away with announcing 17k at that game? There MAY have been 2,000 people there including the band.

Tickets distributed/sold.

They made their money on them, why not count them?

Because that's not "attendance"

You're beating a dead horse with this argument. No one will disagree with you, but these are the official numbers and the only ones we have to work with.

Exactly. Attendance = fannies in the seats.

Its a way for those that are flirting with the 15,000 minimum of the NCAA to fake that they have a higher attendance. GS and Appy appear to be the only ones that do it with butts in the seats instead of funny math. Normally it doesn't hurt us, but with two games in a row in torrential downpours, our numbers are seriously ugly.

To be sure, 14k-whatever is not good for Georgia State or anyone. However, the forecasts for that game and the entire Atlanta area were hideous all week. Everyone was talking about how bad it was supposed to be, just generally and not having anything to do with a football game. It looked like it was going to be worse than the Army game just the week before.

And then it ended up doing...not much at all. No excuses, but the terrible forecasts affected things.

I haven't noticed USA being in the "tickets sold" crowd vs the "butts in the seats" method of counting attendance until this year. Could it have to do with frustration over the faulty turnstile counts due to massive failures finally taking their toll on the AD's patience? Interesting and new approach for South.
