RE: Top 25 after week 8
Wouldn't we meet an undefeated SMU in a conference championship game in Dallas? I say, let them win out; till we meet them in the championship game.
Two ranked teams playing for the trophy and the Cotton Bowl invite.
Win - win - and WIN!
Could surpass the win at Pitt.

That would be the storybook best scenario. But being realistic with our young team I hope the Western Division cannibalizes itself the next few weeks and they all take a couple losses. That would allow us to take one loss but win our division and have the AAC Championship game at Nippert. That game would still probably be between two ranked teams and I think the winner would stand a good chance for the Cotton Bowl.

If we both win out, why would they get to host the game? We'd both have the same conference record.
Not that it bothers me for the game itself. They'd probably draw 2500 to their... home field advantage.
I'm fairly certain we would sell out.

We obviously have a long way to go, and it's more than likely that both teams suffer a lost, but here's the tie-breaker:
Two-Team Tie for Divisional Championship
a. Head-to-head result
b. Divisional winning percentage
c. Head-to-head results within the division against the team with the next best conference winning percentage, in descending order
d. Winning percentage against common nondivisional conference opponents
e. College Football Playoff Selection Committee rankings, provided that team wins in the final weekend of the regular season. If the higher ranked team loses in the final weekend, then a composite average of computer rankings will determine the divisional champion.
f. Overall winning percentage, excluding exempt games
g. Coin toss

This X 1,000....I want the conference championship game at a SRO Nippert. Preferably a night game, or at least a 3:30 kick off so that the student section has enough time to get their game faces on.

Aac championship is a 330 kickoff.

That overlaps with the shootout. Think I'd rather have both games on the road so we can all gather around the local watering holes and give each the attention it deserves

How about 3:30 @ Nippert and 29 degrees for our friends from sunny Texas?

Huh? You don't want to host the championship game? Look if UC is playing in the championship game I'm focusing on that; I'd flip over at half but conference championship football>>>December non-conference basketball even more if NY6 is on the line.

would make for an interesting debate for sure. Personally, I’m not missing the Shootout.

I bet the Shootout gets moved to either noon or an 8:00 or later start if Cincinnati is playing in the AAC Championship game. At least Fox would be wise to do so.

It's a little more difficult considering it's not our network but if Fox has another slot available then they'd be wise to move it. X has a very loyal fanbase but not a big one. With them hosting probably 80% of the audience would be UC people and if we're hosting a conference title game with NY6 on the line were going to have a sold out football stadium. Our TV fans will probably have multiple TVs going and not having sole focus if they're watching basketball at all.

Count me as one in the friendly confines of Nippert if I have to decide between AAC Championship and the Shootout. It's really not a hard call for me and count me as one who's rooting for us to host it.

I agree. I'll be in Nippert. The DVR will provide the Shootout that evening so I can choose to go back and watch the "home cooking" from the officials influenced by bad crowd behavior stealing one pre-conference basketball victory...or not.
This CCG would be one of the most significant games ever in Nippert with more on the line than any football game in at least a decade. The national spotlight will be on Cincinnati and the TV audience for this game will dwarf the basketball game ratings over on FS1 or wherever Fox sends its signal that day.
