Decent chance we get to 80 but about as plausible that we only get to 76.

Yep right now the projection is 78.97 for 78 spots. But that is down by a bit from a couple weeks ago when I last checked. If there does end up being more than 78 eligible teams and either Troy, CCU, or ULM gets eligible, someone from the Sun Belt may be sitting at home like ULM last year.

However, if we do end up with 78 or fewer eligible, obviously that potential 6th Sun Belt team would have a spot.

Troy won't be sitting at home in that scenario.

Right, but there's a good chance someone from the Sun Belt would be sitting if Troy makes it to 6 wins and there are more than 78 eligible.

As it stands, there's a good chance that Charlotte will be one of those 6 win teams and I can't imagine they would be more desirable than the Sun Belt options. Never know I guess.

Cure Bowl rep said at Sun Belt media day that they wanted GS for the inaugural game in 2015 but we were selected by the GoDaddy Bowl first.

We’re the closest Sun Belt team to Orlando so it’s no wonder. Plus we’re still far enough away that most of our fans would get hotels instead of making a day trip.

I could definitely see them wanting StAte this season though for obvious circumstances.

It seems to take me 41/2- 5 hours from Statesboro to Orlando every time I make the trip to Florida. Perfect distance for fans to attend and spend a night or two.

That's about right. I was living in Orlando when I was in school at GS. Depending on if I was trying to break a land speed record or not, it was usually right at 4 1/2 hrs for me every time.

I wouldn't mind the Cure Bowl. Would give me a chance to see a lot of family and friends AND a GS bowl game at the same time!

Do we really think Orlando is worried about hotel bookings for the Cure Bowl? Orlando...of all places? Worried about hotels....In Florida...next to Disney...?

The City of Orlando itself might not be, but the people that put on the Cure Bowl will want to bring as much additional money as they can to the City so they can continue to use the City's stadium and surrounding areas. The more money the bowl brings to the City, the better the relationship.

The organizers of the Cure Bowl are not a tourism board. The foundation was set up 100% to support the cause of Breast Cancer awareness and cure. They don't give a blip about hotels. They're about raising money for the foundation. That means selling more tickets and getting on better TV (hence why the game is going to be on ESPN starting in 2020)

You don't think the foundation wants to keep the city and the community as happy as they can be? That means bring as many people as possible to spend money in the city. Is it a priority like it is with a tourism board? Probably not, but to say they don't care at all is silly.

I'm sure their foundation has relationships with tourism aspects of Orlando they'd like to keep on the positive side. However, the foundation moved their location and the TV partner for 1 reason: Ticket sales and TV awareness. The Camping World and Citrus Bowl are what the tourism boards are probably more focused on, rather than a 20k attended game.
