2019 WAC Basketball Scrimmages
New Mexico State beat North Texas in it's first scrimmage by 17 points in Odessa, Texas. It's good news for NMSU since we won't have AJ Harris until December. North Texas won 20 games last season.

Nice. I saw that GCU lost at UTEP today for their super-secret scrimmage, but haven't seen any of the details.

That’s not a good sign for GCU

Chicago State reportedly played without 3 starters, and lost to Governors State by 4, I believe. 96-92 or something close to that.
Eh, when Ohio Stats lost to a DII school in 2007-08– they went on to win the NIT. Syracuse went on to win the Big East in 2009-10. And Miami won the ACC in 2012-13.

Granted, those were exhibitions.. but I’ll stay optimistic.
Lots of new players.. so plenty to work on. Better do it now before things really count.

Hard to make any type of judgment on exhibition games. According to this article UTEP beat Texas Tech by 10 points. So does this mean UTEP should be ranked in the top ten?

UTEP is looking to be legit this year. Tons of size and talent.

Update: I heard the game was 70-69. If UTEP is legit, then that bodes well for GCU.

Not going to get too high or low based on an exhibition result. Probably won't get too lathered up about OOC either, tbh. We all know what really matters for any/all WAC teams.

Here's some posts within UTEP's Miner Illustrated stating the final score between UTEP and GCU was 70-69 with UTEP winning at the last second. Again, I do not think this means much but it is interesting how Miner fans are playing up GCU so that they can feel good about UTEP's chances this year.

Thats not a very Gonzaga-like attitude. Losers mantra is all that matters is conference play. So glad our coach and our fan base doesn't have that attitude.

I think the Miners are probably better but I see NMSU sweeping both teams...again.
