Game Day Thread: Cincy vs. Tulsa
i peruse the local media for coverage of our opponents but it appears the Tulsa World seems more concerned with the goings on of OU, osu and their prep scene. From what i can gather they are struggling in the kicking game and they commit a lot of penalties. if that sounds familiar that's where the similarities end. Rooting for a non-dramatic, Bearcat win, a robust celebration of 09 squad, and no injuries.

The bookies are giving 16.5 to 17 points.

Take UC minus the points!

I'm feeling pretty good about today's outcome. But I do have concerns about a lethargic start for UC that lets Tulsa start believing it can knock off the 'Cats. Tulsa has played quality teams pretty tough this season.

Here's hoping UC scores early and often. So often that Bryant is the QB in the second half. And we see some action for reserve running backs that may be needed as the season rolls on.

No excuse not to have a good walk-up attendance today to fill the place up.

Maybe a recruiting victory today also; Marcus Freeman just tweeted a commitment sign....defensive player I guess!

I attended a number of UC/Tulsa games as a youth. Most memorable was our win in 1964 here with two future NFL players at QB. Brig Owens our Lamar Jackson type Bearcat great against Jerry Rhome who was second in Heisman Trophy voting that year.

Yes and we tied them for the MVC Title but they got the Bowl invite and we stayed home.

Love pulling double duty on a game day! I'm guessing Sammy Anderson.

I tried to get word to Evan Prater to start working on Sammy hope the word got to him and he has worked some magic.

Wow! I wonder how long it has been since we had a 50+ yard field goal completion?

RE: Game Day Thread: Cincy vs. Tulsa
This might be a little hypercritical, but I'd like to see our guys take a crack at specifically knocking the ball out on sacks. Obviously not at the expense of a missed tackle, but in this day and age where you have to take the QB down gently, go ahead and take a punch at the ball when you can.

I bring this up partially because I think our DL is going to feast today on pass rushes unless they resort to doing all quick release stuff.

That and the Tulsa QB is looking to keep plays alive and he's holding the ball in a way that really exposes it. Ripe for a few forced fumbles.

Doaks in for six. Good to see him in the end zone.

10 - zip midway through Q1. I hope we don't let up now. It'd be nice to build up a good lead here and keep Tulsa from thinking they are in a real game they can win. It'd also be great to get some serious time for our backups in the second half and hopefully avoid injuries.

RE: Game Day Thread: Cincy vs. Tulsa
Nice start on both sides. Glad to see Doaks get some nice runs and find the end zone after missing last year.

Just have to stay focused. This offense can be dangerous so we can’t lose focus after getting a small lead.
