RE: Defending the team
I never thought our coaches had it together. They do not make the adjustments needed to win the game. we have the best recruiters in the league. But they need to wake up and figure out how to lead this team to victory

In no way does the team and coaching staff deserve a pass for last Saturday.
Anything less than 9 wins this season and fans have a right to push for coaches to get fired...
Even with 7 or 8 win season Candle is not getting fired, so best to not waste time and effort pushing for that
He's not getting fired-his contract goes for four more years.
While Candle is locked in, his staff isn't necessarily as safe.

Only if O'Brien plays hardball. Candle is one of those coaches that never wants to fire his assistants (friends), and it eventually takes them down. IMO, Pinkel was the last UT coach that knew how to make half-time adjustments.

If we win out I’ll wear a rocket themed dress of your choice to the season opener next year.
Moderator: it's getting ugly in here! lol
And i’ll purchase the dress for him
Appreciate the support, pat. :)

Don't know about that, but perhaps fans have the right to support the players no matter what happens

if it ends up in a truly terrible season that is certainly where pressure for change could occur

Taking a another job is always a possibility but would a 7 or 8 win season without MACC slot still make him that attractive to a school he would jump to? I would think BGSU loss would really impact his appeal after this season

RE: Defending the team
Rutgers and Illinois fans have been hyping Candle to be their next coach on twitter all season. Also gets mentions from the occasional other school, like Tennessee. Of course, that's just typical twitter babble, but I did notice this article today:
https://footballscoop.com/news/look-jaso...on-toledo/
Truthfully, I expect Loefler might get an offer sooner, even if he doesn't win at BG, because of his connections to Michigan and the name recognition that brings.

Candle would be foolish to go to Illinois (when was Illinois football relevant? Beckman maybe?). AS far as Rutgers is concern, if he got hire there, and would bring them up to a 6-6 record eventually, they would go bananas over him.

Not sure Ive seen anything to indicate our second or third string QB is capable of winning games for us. If G is out again, we are in big trouble

Well (hate to be the bearer of bad news) they better figure it out quick then.

Just a couple more weeks and we can peak at true freshman QBs without burning eligibility

I wouldn’t stop at QB. Time for Candle to build for a couple seasons down the road. Not a PJ Fleck fan but I do think there’s a lesson to be learned from him. He took the worst team in the MAC and had them a top 20 team when he left just a few seasons later—he recruited studs & played them early, and while they took their lumps for a couple seasons, they gained valuable experience. If we keep having such great recruiting classes, then let the guys play & get better...and better.

We keep getting the great recruiting classes but not the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow ?. Why is that?

because rating HS players is very imperfect system

Most of the Rocket OL are in that #110-200 ranking
range by position .77 - .83. Need to recruit better in that area. Also better development of those players.
A new/extra hire is needed.

True. Program historically does well in September, not bad in October and then falls apart in November. Now, we just start falling apart in October
