RE: OT: A request
Update:
I'm currently on Day +12 (total 19) of my hospitalization, and wew lad this has been a trip.
I've had side effects galore with all the chemo, radiation, and the transplant itself, but the docs say the end of the stay is rapidly approaching.
Most transplant patients will stay in the hospital until around Day +21 (28 total), but with how well my body has accepted my donors cells (thank you, whoever you are), I may be going home this Friday/Saturday and be able to watch the championship from my own couch with two cats on my lap.
Thank you for all the thoughts, prayers, and donations, we're almost there.

RE: OT: A request
Hey y'all, I'm around. Didn't mean to drop off the face of the planet, recovery has been a long arduous process.
I'm about 10 months past transplant at this point, and things are looking up. I'm back to work, in grad school (online through App), and running a political campaign. Trying to live life to it's fullest while I have the capability.
Medically I've been better. My body is dependent on steroids to keep Graft vs Host Disease away, and my hip bones are slowly dying because of it. I'll need a hip replacement in about a year once my immune system finally balances out. I was considering going to the Marshall game next week as my one attended game of COVID season, but I'd be going by myself, and if something happened to my hip I'd be screwed.
Though, I am completely in remission. No signs of disease at this point. We're just in the extremely lengthy recovery process of a Bone Marrow Transplant at this point. Thank you all for your support. Cancer sucks.
On a semi-side note, September is Blood Cancer Awareness Month. Consider visiting LLS.org (The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society) and dropping a donation. There is still we don't know about blood and lymph node cancers, and every dollar helps us get a little closer to understanding them.
Thank you!
Edit: typo in address

Also, I'll be around more as the season kicks off. Reddit is typically my preferred medium, but y'all are always interesting to talk to. BEAT CHARLOTTE!

Also everyone give blood when possible. I am unable to since I had lymphoma as an adult, otherwise I'd try to do my part.

Thank you!
A couple years ago the doctor told me I had multiple myeloma. Then after checking again he said I didn't have cancer. For two weeks in my mind I had it and was scared to death. I had an internal bleed and had gotten 24 units of blood in about a month and a half. They think that is where the numbers came up bad. Anyway I was so glad when I was told I was good. Really glad you are doing well.
