Reasonable assessment. I didn't think this would be a very good Red Wolf team before the injury bug.
I think ESPN's FPI predicting a 60% chance of a UL win is about right.
If AState used the stinging of giving up 722 yards offense to make substantive changes to the defense Red Wolves may create some issues. DC we had in 2001 tried to use a similar soft zone scheme to hide the weaknesses of the defense and it failed miserably, the next year with basically the same cast but different coaches they went much more aggressive and the numbers got a lot better. Still not a good defense but more effective.
So if that sort of change is made, Cajuns will need a drive or two to adjust. The UL offense has to have a sense of frustration after the last game. If the Red Wolves can extend that, it could go AState's way.
I think a portion of the Red Wolf fan base got sucked into the PA mystique of Hatcher and are having some withdrawal pains realizing he doesn't really throw a great ball but he gets in the neighborhood and the receivers make him look better and he doesn't always make the right read but ain't bad for a guy who doesn't have a lot of experience in the system.
More likely than not, the Cajuns beat the Red Wolves but I think AState can make it worthwhile to watch and see what happens.
