12 football, 10 basketball... works for me!

Houston gets 3 academically restricted private schools and 2 academies. If they ever could get out of their own way, they could become a monster in that kind of environment.
I think Tulane goes east and Memphis stays west. Historically the east would be a bear. It would be the G5 SEC.

That is not the first smoke from AF. I am wondering if they are dropping hints.
Lets get 2 year exemption to ease AF into the fold.

Memphis would likely stay in the west, so as to provide some balance. I would think that Tulane would be the most logical addition to the East... even though they are mighty good at this time.

Besides the fact that you are missing 1 Basketball school there ...

I wasn't counting ECU until we start winning, lol.

Air Force Olympic sports would do better in the WCC with BYU, Gonzaga, and private schools.
Air Force football would do well here and scheduling for Navy would be much better especially for non-conference.

I would add VCU for basketball to get back to 12 to have another name brand and opportunity for more NCAA credits.

Funny the AFA coach says this not too long after playing a competitive game against an AAC opponent Navy followed up by dominating performance in the MWC.

Calhoun has always been a whiner, besides he is not a decision maker. I would be real surprised if anything happens. AFA has major regional rivalries in CSU, CU, and Wyoming. THE MWC has an 8 game schedule primarily to accommodate their games with Army and Navy.

Actually it gets better the more option teams you face. Familiarity KILLS option offense. That's why Army v. Navy is normally a total rockfight.

And the option kills D-Linemen's knees. No thank you.

AF gets a bit chippy also, last time seen them live had a few cheap shots, which I would never have expected from an academy like theirs.

Probably thinks AF would be better off as an independent.

While the head coach may have some influence, he does not make the final decision. I think Air Force would be the best choice. But time will tell.

Thought there was an update on this 01-lauramac2
I'm not holding my breath for Air Force, remember they were invited to the Big 12 years back and turned them down. 01-wingedeagle

True, but they had reasons to doubt whether they could compete in one of the most physical P5 FB leagues.

Due to Navy's success in the AAC, it should be clear to AF that they could compete successfully in the AAC.

If they decide not to seek AAC membership, it would probably be due, mostly, to the new contract that they've signed with CBS & Fox.
