For reference, Team Rankings has our SOS at 15. Boise is at 73. That's like exactly the difference in SOS that screwed UCF over vs. teams with one, or even two, losses.

Id rather stay at home then play hawaii in hawaii...their fans are terrible.
Would seem like a fun trip for the Players though. I’m sure they would love to go to Hawaii.
Depending on how our season plays out, it may be a disappointment to end up there, but let’s see how things play out first.

Yea, the strength of schedule is massive and while UC will likely drop some over the next several weeks, I expect there will still be a significant gap between the two programs throughout the season, and especially at the end if we make it to the AAC Championship game.

Wonder if it's redshirting to play here or have an extra year at his next school.

Correcting the error from last year IMO. Having Chuck and TT with two years of eligibility after Warren moves on is a great move, and frankly, with Doaks in the fold and Montgomery playing well enough in mop-up, it makes sense.

If Temple and UCF win their crossover games and Marshall rights the ship in CUSA, our SOS will at worst be in the high 20's, and that's without factoring in the potential CCG.

Does anyone know what they have planned for saturday honoring the 2009 team? Will it be at halftime hoepfully? Definitely deserves some time with folks in their seats. I'm sure Kelly will say a few words.

Fair question, but it makes a lot of sense for both parties if he stays. He gets some time to improve physically and mentally with both the playbook and academics (I'm not saying either is or isn't an issue for him, just it is a benefit). He's much more like Warren and Doaks than McClelland and Montgomery stylewise, so he'll have a shot at enjoying 2 full years as the main "big" RB after those two move on if I understand all their eligibility correctly.

Even if drops a little lower than that, I don’t see where Boise can really move up significantly at this point so even if we do drop there is still going to be a significant gap between Cincinnati and Boise State.

We need to keep rooting against FSU. If they end up 7-5 or 6-6, I think we end up in over Boise. If FSU ends up 9-3, Boise probably gets the nod, assuming they don't lose.

I should also note that Mandel says "Missouri — a team I’m projecting to finish 9-3 — is currently not eligible for a bowl game. That really did a number on the SEC’s lower-tier bowls."
That's his reasoning for the AAC to take the SEC bid in Charlotte. I'm curious your reasoning for UC to take the Belk spot over UCF? Higher potential ranking while also marketable? Assuming we don't get the NY6 spot, that'd be the best outcome for the season.
I am anticipating that we finish higher than UCF... Additionally, I think UC has a good reputation with the Belk Bowl, and while UCF undoubtedly travels well, so does UC.

i think they will definitely get two Ws (@BC and Alabama State - although ASU is FCS for what that's worth). @Wake, Cuse, MIA, and @FL are the rest of their schedule. i don't know if they'll be favored in any of those four (maybe Cuse) and wouldn't be surprised if they weren't bowl-eligible at season's end and that may help Cincy in the court of public opinion.

Back to the potential bowl games. I don't think UC should ever go through the pure hell of playing Hawaii in Hawaii again.

Me either. I remember staying up into the wee hours watching the Rick Minter team get jobbed. Ticked me off for a solid week. Was really surprised when we returned back in 2008.

I know it's easy to complain about officiating. But that Minter coached team faced the most egregious display of bias I've ever seen in a college football game.
I too would hate to see UC return there. The home team playing in their own bowl isn't unheard of in the contiguous states, but an eight hour flight from Cincinnati for a Christmas Eve game against a so-so G5 is nonsense.

I've seen a lot of poorly officiated games but that Hawaii game was about the only one where I though the officials were trying to fix the outcome of the game.

It wasn't just the officiating. The drunken Hawaii fans roaming the Cincinnati sidelines were "A DISGRACE".
