Not so sure.

Temple beat Memphis, Georgia Tech, and Maryland. They are a very good team and SMU dominated them. The score was only as close as it was because the SMU kicker sucks.

If they address their kicker issue they are going to destroy Memphis.

AT Memphis? Uh, no...

P.S. How do you "address a kicker issue" mid-season?

I was on the "SMU can't get thru their schedule" bandwaggon until watching how badly they dominated Temple. I still think it's going to be very difficult, but I've way underestimated how good they are. Their schedule is a bear though. Houston is kinda bad but short week on the road against a rival isn't easy. Then @ Memphis is just gonna be hard as hell and then 2 weeks later a trip to Navy.

I will gladly eat crow if I'm wrong but I'm calling in SMU 10+ over Memphis.

And how? A mid season competition for the starting position. There are usually guys who have secondary experience as a kicker. In addition to walk-ons.

For example, I played corner but I also could comfortably hit a 27 yard kick under pressure. SMU doesn't need a guy who can hit 45 yard kicks. They just need a guy who can get easy points so they aren't going for 4th and 7 in the redzone.

That guy they have was even struggling with extra point kicks.....that's abnormal for a collegiate level kicker.

1 loss maybe, but no way a 2 loss AAC team gets in over a 13-0 G5 champion with two P5 wins.

Disagree. A one-loss AAC champ will get it over an unbeaten App state.

Coaches #13, 16, 17, 23 and 25 lost. So did 27 (Memphis #29).
Wake Forest, Virginia, Iowa St. and Memphis are the 4 battling for any new spots in the rankings.

AP ISU #23, WF #25, Memphis #26, UVA #27
Coaches WF #23, Memphis #25, ISU #26, UVA #27

So AAC has #16/17, #18/18 and #26/25 with SMU, Cincinnati and Memphis.

My money at this point would be on Boise getting the access slot. SMU, Memphis, Navy, Cincinnati, Temple, UCF and maybe Houston knock each other off so nobody has less than 2 losses.

App St. only gets in if the AAC and MWC champs have 2 losses and they are unbeaten. And there's no guarantee then depending on how the games play out.

Isn't that what folks said last few years about the AAC? And it's really not come to fruition....
