They're appealing it, said it came from an OTC supplement, but knowing the NCAA, even a successful appeal could take months. Guys have to start realizing that a lot of these supplements have trace amounts of things on the no-no list in them. 03-banghead

The silver lining is that our original starter, Dormady, who was hurt early in the WI game could be back. If not, Lazzaro has experience playing in a few games last season.

Didn’t you read the article you posted?

“When McElwain was the head coach at Florida from 2015-17, Gator quarterback Will Grier received a one-year suspension on Oct. 12, 2015. He tested positive for a performance-enhancing drug but said the positive test came from an over-the-counter supplement called Ligandrol – a treatment for muscle wasting and osteoporosis.

Grier said he was unaware the supplement was banned and never followed the correct protocol to clear the product with Florida football trainers.

The appeal from Grier was rejected by the NCAA. He transferred from Florida two months later.”

Ah yes, that's right! What a strange coincidence! 07-coffee3

What makes his case any different than the other positive tests?

Well based on Bilas' tweet, the test was administered improperly, and subsequent independent tests have indicated that there were no banned substances in Moore's sample. Obviously he hasn't provided a source or details, so it's hard to say exactly what the case is, but given the fact that Bilas is a basketball guy, and now tweeting this about a CMU QB, would indicate to me that there are details or information that hasn't been made readily available to the public that provides credence to this. Where there is smoke there is fire and all that... I know Bilas is not a fan of the NCAA as an organization, but I don't think he would put a message out there like this, about a fairly obscure player on a team from a sport that he doesn't cover, if there wasn't some legitimate catalyst.

I read his tweet, thanks. So the only outrage is from a guy that always rages on the NCAA and is providing the smoke and fire? Thought somehow there’d be an article or some credible source laying it out there how this test differs from others and is an injustice.

Like I said in my previous post, the message he posted certainly would imply that there is information out there that hasn't been made public that would support his message. I haven't seen any other source mention anything about an independent test or that the initial test was administered incorrectly. Does that mean it was? Who knows, but even if Bilas has an axe to grind, this is so out of left field that there has to be some catalyst for it. Is the source of his tweet accurate and factual? Who knows, but it certainly leads me to believe that there is some information that hasn't been made public on this matter. It's a much larger stretch to believe that this is a fabrication Bilas has pulled completely out of thin air simply to rail on the NCAA than it is to believe that he has a source of non-public information that may actually lend plausibility to this...

Dear eich41,
When one talks of clearing the air, why doesn't Central provide information of the substance in question? If, Bilas is so sure that this is just smoke, wouldn't that information clear some away?

As a CMU alum, I have been very vocal in this. I simply rarely buy the "tainted supplement" garbage. It's the same thing boxers, mma fighters, and baseball players use. It's football, a ton of these dudes are sauced up. But I am not going to call Moore a cheater just yet. I would like to see it play out.

However, Moore and CMU would do themselves a huge favor by releasing these PED he popped for. That way there is clarity and the situation is easier to figure out. If it's some anabolic steroid....yeah good luck with an appeal. If it's some diuretic then that may be a tad different.

I am very skeptical on Bilas' tweet. He provided no source or anything. Just a rant.

I don't believe Bilas would step up for a CMU QB. He would not unless he had some information.
