Everybody misses 1 team each year. For us (GS) it goes like this
2018 missed Louisiana
2019 miss Texas St
2020 will miss Ark St
2021 miss either ULM or USA
2022 miss either ULM or USA

Will that 5 year rotation just go over and over?

I think USA/Troy being the only protected cross-division game keeps that from being true, but you very well could be right

Yes, because USA/Troy is protected it won’t be exactly like that.

I wish, the Sun Belt would've made permanent cross divisional rivalries, similar to the way that the SEC does theirs.

That way, everyone will know 5 of the 8 conference opponents every season.

Or we could just go to 12 schools and be done with it.

The honchos at the belt REALLY want App/Louisiana to be a thing. I'd prefer stAte

I would be ok with that if we can get the boys from the Ditch as our cross division rival.

App St - Ark St
CCU - ULM
Ga St - Tx St
GS - UL
Troy - USA

Makes sense all around.

We won't be on a 5-year rotation because the league is going to make sure South and Troy never skip each other. IMO we will rotate 4 different conference schedules in an 8-year cycle (4 years will be the same as the other 4 with the locations flipped).

So it will look something like this:
2021: New Conference schedule
2022: 2018 conference schedule with locations flipped
2023: 2019 conference schedule with locations flipped
2024: 2020 conference schedule with locations flipped
2025: 2021 conference schedule with locations flipped

Most of the SEC cross divisional rivalry games aren't really rivals.
Arkansas - Missouri
Ole Miss - Vandy
Miss State - Kentucky
Texas A&M - South Carolina.

The biggest one is Auburn/Georgia, Alabama/Tennessee, and maybe LSU/Florida.

If we could get South and Troy in the same division, then we wouldn't worry about a protect rivalry game. I'm glad we have a 10 team conference, so we play nearly everyone every year.

Yeah I don't really mind not having a forced yearly game with anyone in the east.

There's not many real games that need to be played between divisions aside from USA-Troy.

As long as the conference office doesn't bungle the scheduling by not rotating the one cross-division team off your schedule properly I like the current set-up.
You still play everyone from the other division approximately 4 out of every 5 years. And possibly more if you're a team making the championship game.

RE: Is this the way future conference schedules are?
I just think they need to adjust some of the home and away dates IF THEY CAN, so we don't end up like ours is this year. We play AT Appy, AT Troy, and AT stAte this year. In alternating years its great to have them all at home, but the away years are a #$%^&*! If the UL game had been away this year, I would have sworn that someone from GS had to have gone to NOLA and pi$$3d in someone's corn flakes in order to get screwed that bad.

Does anyone else have a year like that with an away schedule that is atrocious?

App, UL, A-State, and Coastal. That's pretty brutal too.

If TXST had to have a cross conference rival, I would want Southern. The games are usually fun and it is the only team I feel like we have a slight history with.

The ''honchos'' in the Southeastern Conference once wanted the Alabama-Tennessee game to be a "thing", but you see how that turned out.
