Georgia State beat Arkansas State head to head and must be ahead of them. Arkansas State beat Troy head to head and must be ahead of them. This would result in Texas State being the 5th best team in the SunBelt.

He managed to satisfy his own criteria in his rankings. Nobody is ahead of someone that beat them. Good luck with that still being possible after another week or two.

Ha, thanks for working that out and checking on it. I think you can pretty well guarantee you won’t be able to rank by those criteria after this week. I’m actually surprised it was possible at this juncture.

The “pure Sun Belt win-loss record” approach is certainly a new one to me, and even though it actually doesn’t offer any more information than you can get by just printing out the conference schedule to this point, it’s a fascinating way to look at it. It’s an interesting visualization of head-to-head results more than it’s a power ranking. Kudos to that TXST guy for taking one interpretation of “power ranking” to its logical extreme!

As weird as his take on power rankings is, however, his basketball takes were still far worse.

Tangentially related, but one of my favorite things on the internet is this website/tool that allows you to find the “true” national champion based on the transitive property in matchups. One year, I crowned some middling JuCo the true champ over Alabama. I should look that up again.

Power rankings are fun and all..

but all I can think about is..3 more wins and we go bowling again.
Hopefully we can knock off Coastal, South Alabama, Georgia Southern.
For some reason, we play well against ULM, so there's that.
Troy might be having a down year. This game is @ Atlanta. W could happen.
Zero expectations for Army and App games.

Georgia State could've been 4-1 at this point, but nope. We don't like the easy way clearly.

There are only 2 guaranteed wins in my eyes for App State in conference and GaState isn't one of them. I'll give you a hint though, one is in your state.

So does App not play USA this year or do you not consider us an automatic W?

I'll tell you this much, if there's snow on the mountain in late November it may be the first time half of our roster has seen snow. Doubt we don't get blown out in any type of wintry weather.

I don't consider Texas State an automatic W. You guys beat Georgia State who has wins against Tennessee and Arkansas State.

Considering ANYONE in the SBC a guaranteed win right now is crazy with how cannibalistic it's been

Troy is rolling into a game with South Alabama without our starting QB. He is "questionable", but that has usually meant "no" this season. I think we can beat them, but I would not surprised if they beat us. We never play well in this series.

No matter how hard y’all try, Appalachian State isn’t the underdog in this game. I think we win, but aren’t the favorite, regardless what the line says.

Wish we were kicking this thing off tonight. Tomorrow is going to be a long day. Especially since I’ll probably be watching the Braves come up with a torturous new way to lose from 5 to 8.

Well I’m at work until tomorrow. And watching the best team in baseball piss away game 4 against the Rays. So I can’t wait until tomorrow.
