Rooting for DePaul to make the NIT. Just not at the expense of UConn (or Tulsa tbh, just think that team deserves some postseason play.)

Any positive momentum that the program built in OOC has been erased with their pitiful play thus far in conference-play. DePaul remains a non-tournament program, and will likely be another CBI team in a few weeks (if it so chooses).

To use "pitiful play" to describe DePaul in BE games this season is being kind. It's a vast understatement, much like using the word "impressive" to describe a young Bill Dazzle's success with the ladies, circa the mid- to late-1990s, when his swashbuckling skills with the lasses were off the charts (not even remotely true but I wanted to type that for some odd reason — perhaps to ease the sting of another DU loss).

You mean to tell me "Bill Dazzle" didn't dazzle the ladies back in the day?!

I think you're being modest... You must've gotten the nickname from somewhere 04-cheers

My sister gave me the name Bill Dazzle years ago because I dabbled in juggling and magic. I learned to juggle at Oak Street Beach in Chicag in the early 1990s. Was working on six balls before I basically gave up the hobby. Have been into magic since I was about 6. Still fiddle around with it.

Now pushing 60, I try to dazzle the ladies at the office with limericks, ribaldry and assorted foolishness.

Tulsa and UConn are more deserving of NIT bids than DePaul. But I sure hope the Blue Demons squeeze in.

Tulsa may get an auto bid by winning the AAC. Hoping UConn can help facilitate that by beating Houston in a week

I took up juggling as a stress reliever. Though I don't juggle much anymore, I still enjoy watching some videos. Check this one from master object manipulator Selyna Bogino:

RE: Good DePaul news
I have engaged a few robust debates with purists who scoff at juggling, as they dismiss it as a "non-sport."

I counter by noting that though jugglers, acrobats, trapeze artists, contortionists, plate spinners, etc. don't compete per se in a sports-like manner, they are, nonetheless, athletes. And the elite members of the "physical arm of the variety arts culture" (as opposed to those who, instead, perform as magicians, puppeteers, ventriloquists, comedians, etc.), are typically world-class athletes.

For example, Selyna Bogino (the foot juggler, also called a "podist," in the video I posted) is a big-time athlete. I've watched her videos. She was a gymnast a few years ago. All muscle. Impressive flexibility, hand-eye coordination and footwork.

So there, lads (and maybe we have some lovely lassies on the board), is your variety arts lesson of the day.

Enjoy your day and good luck to your teams (both pro and college) this weekend.

Sorry, had work over the weekend so I'm just seeing this now. Completely agree it takes incredible athleticism to do what Bogino did in that video. The hand eye coordination is off the charts, likely in the top .1% of the world if I had to guess. Certainly "elite" at minimum

Yes, I agree fully that SB's hand-eye coordination (and foot-eye coordination) are likely in the top .1% of the world. A special talent.

Here is a video of Anthony Gatto, considered by most as the world's most skilled "numbers" juggler (as opposed to juggler who offers a "routine" with a variety of patterns and movements — and often comedic banter).

Oh, yeah. That's hugely impressive. Seems he currently hold nine world records.

An on an unusual note (from Wiki):

In 2012 Anthony Gatto retired from performing in Cirque Du Soleil in order to start a concrete resurfacing business "Big Top Concrete Resurfacing LLC" in Orlando under his birth name of Anthony Commarota.

To go from being a pro juggler to owning a concrete resurfacing business ... you don't hear about that type career change very often.

If college basketball is done(which is likely)....

The final Big East team to win a game.... is DePaul. 2nd straight year.

That give me reason to smile (the DePaul win and not the potentially cancellation of the season).

Actually significant. Depending on what Reed does with the NBA (I think he's gone) they're bringing back a big chunk of last year's team that, whatever you want to say about the conference record, clearly was very talented and managed to take a game in the conference tournament.

Definitely can't hurt DePaul. JCL provides solid production.

Great news for a program that needs some positivity. I like JC-L's game.

I can't find an article that notes Paul Reed either has hired or has not hired an agent. Seems he has not, so he could be back, which would be huge. Still, I assume Reed is gone and the team builds around a nice core of experienced returning players and a fine point guard. The goal is 17 wins minimum and an NIT bid. And, of course, to NOT finish last in the BE.

Great to hear DePaul unexpectedly gets a double digit scorer back. Hoping all or most of the league is top 75 for most of the season again next year and this definitely helps that wish become a reality

Yep, would be nice to see all 11 BE programs as "Top 75-ish" this coming season. Few (if any) leagues accomplish that very often.

Just read the Teddy Greenstein column (Chicago Tribune) of a few weeks ago regarding how DePaul should have fired Leitao. Scathing. He noted too many Blue Demon players this past season had personal agendas. That troubles me for the upcoming season. Maybe DL can get it together and DePaul can win 17 to 19 games and land an NIT bid. I want to be optimistic but it's a challenge at times.
