The only two Big Ten schools that could work in my opinion would be Rutgers (as they are local) and Maryland (since they are good at hoop and the basketball game will probably matter more than the football game to locals if the location is New York City).

The best matchup is Syracuse. UConn and Syracuse both have tons of alumni in the NYC area and the matchup of these schools would energize New Yorkers who aren't alums of either school. Syracuse vs. UConn has "New York City" written all over it.

Not saying they would, but ND travelled like that last season.

ND played Syracuse at Yankee Stadium on 11/17 and then flew to California to play USC on 11/24.

This came after ND played Navy in San Diego.

I agree about Rutgers not being exciting. As for the Duke idea, I love it as an option. They are pretty good in football lately and have been the "it" team in basketball for years now. That would be a lot of fun.

Penn State could work well for that, they'd fill up Yankee Stadium easily

This is just a hunch, but it wouldn't shock me if it's to squeeze in another Michigan - ND series. Michigan has separate series with Texas and Oklahoma from 2024 to 2027.

We're not drawing flies right now thanks to the Flood/Ash/Herrmann disasters but we could play the game on Randall's Island and maybe fill the venue. For basketball it would be interesting since our coach is a UConn alum.

Maybe, but Notre Dame is already playing Ohio State in '22 and '23.

Michigan-LSU, maybe? LSU also has no P5 non-con opponents announced for '22 and '23.

We're not drawing flies right now thanks to the Flood/Ash/Herrmann disasters but we could play the game on Randall's Island and maybe fill the venue. For basketball it would be interesting since our coach is a UConn alum.

I think Pikiell will actually jump start Rutgers basketball into something pretty respectable. I can see a day where Rutgers earns their Big Ten keep in basketball and not football. Based on their market, basketball really is the most logical place to focus on success since Big Ten football is tough.

There are rumors of games in 2033 and 2034. Not confirmed.

Yeah, that'd work.

After all, where Rutgers earns its keep in football, one day, is if the Big Ten increases it's share of the best NJ players. The Big Ten is the only P5 conference without a school in one of the big 3 football recruiting states ... getting an additional (second) state from the balance of the top ten was a lot more important to the Big Ten than to the other P5 conferences.

Anyway, UConn apparently added another four-game series with Army, so it looks like they'll be playing close to every year in the 20s.
