Visiting La Monroe next week for the game (recommendations please)
Memphis fan here, headed down on Sat the 5th for the game. We are gonna stay the night and head back to Memphis on Sunday. Where do we need to stay? Is there an entertainment district that is "where its at"? I tried to visit the Rivals board to ask this question, but something has changed over there with that site that I am too impatient to figure out.
If Memphis is known for Rendezvous Ribs, Monroe is known for...?
(We DOOOO like Cajun and Creole food)
Football game visitors are best off staying in the _________ district because it is within walking distance of the bars, eateries, etc.

The bars and eateries that you'll want to go to are mostly located near the downtown area. I don't go out much so I can't really speak for those. As for hotels, your best bet safety-wise is some of the nicer hotels near the mall, or in West Monroe. The Quality Inn on MLK isn't bad either, I've stayed there a few times, and it's quite a bit cheaper than the other locations I mentioned. Any hotel not near I-20 is a no-go.
The hotels are nowhere near any sort of entertainment (unless you count Applebee's), but Uber/Lyft are in town if you plan to drink.

Flying Tiger Brewery downtown is a cool place, Enoch’s Irish Pub , The Eli and Planter’s Downtown, and see if Houligan’s Barcade or The Hub (cool music venue) have opened yet. Like Debragga said, stay at any of the hotels by the mall (close to ULM) or on I-20 in West Monroe. Check out that other thread for restaurants. Monroe has really good food and if you are wanting Cajun, Cormier’s is good. Waterfront Grill is on the bayou by ULM and has really good food and very ULM themed.

Actually since Katrina, good Cajun and Creole can be found in a multitude of places.
My community of 23,000 had an incredible place but unfortunately the owner had a tendency to pay himself before he paid his taxes and his creditors.
