I also think Tulane is better than they have been, but am very much unsure how much.

Upshot is, I plan to watch this game.

We haven't had a defense against teams with a pulse.

Tulane just faked a kneel-down play. Never seen that before.

Tulane scores on 50 yard pass with 3 seconds left.

Tulane wins 38-31.

Crappy late hit call near the end, but a helluva ending for a very good Tulane team!

Now that was quite a finish — insane
Two plays — big yards did the Green Wave gain
Shown on ESPN
What a fantastic win
For NOLA's team; congrats to Tulane

Not really watching the game, just wanted to see the attendance. A real surprise.

Tulane Tar Heels

I mean, they are the "Green" Wave. I figured green was a prerequisite.

Well, Bowling Green doesn't wear green, either, so...

It was pointed out to me tonight by a friend that the Minnesota Golden Gophers primarily wear maroon. Basically, the world is not what I thought it was and I don't know that I can handle it.

BTW, great win for Tulane...very fun game to watch.

8-4 will get you fired at Houston, unless you’re buddies with their biggest booster...

This type of game is where the term "they Cooged it" comes from. If you are up 28 - 7, you should win, period. And then to give up those two big plays in the final seconds, that is just poor execution and coaching.

Let's face it: Holgorsen was a decent coach at WVU, and he may indeed take Houston to the next level. But it's also true that nobody in the nation other than Houston thought he was worth $4m a year. He was being head-hunted by absolutely nobody within the P5, so there is a big risk there too.

We shall see how it turns out.

I had never seen a fake out of the "victory formation" before, NFL or college. I'm sure it's happened but this was the first time I'd seen it.

Akin to when Marino faked a stop the clock "spike" to beat the Jets back in the 80s.

The Marino spike vs the Jets was 1994.

RE: Big start to week 4!: #17 Houston at #16 Tulane
Here’s an interesting stat! On Auburn’s home field, Tulane’s defense held the Tigers to 24 points. On a NEUTRAL FIELD, Oregon allowed 27 points by Auburn. Tulane scoring D > Ducks’ scoring D.

On top of that, Houston scoring O > Auburn scoring O because Houston scored 31 AT! Tulane.

We G5 fans have a lot to be proud of and excited about. The A5 is doing everything they can - to the point of avoiding court cases, anyway - to hold us back and down, yet!, here we are.

We have Appalachian State @ NC coming up. We have SMU @ TCU coming up. We have inter-G5 scrum of Wyoming at Tulsa coming up. Another big intra-G5 Air Force at Boise, tonight! We have Western Michigan at Syracuse.

What other big ones do we have this weekend I can’t think of at the moment. I’ll even throw FCS a bone and objectively say my Fresno State Bulldogs better watch out for Sacramento State tomorrow evening. FCS has a few gems every year still in spite of A5 trying to hog the booty...which they’ve earned, yes. Just sayin. We G5 and FCS fans have a lot to be happy about.

Edit: well, a handful of A5 earned it with many A5 schools riding on their coattails...So, “JUSTICE!...will be served”...for the G5 and even FCS to a degree. Karma will be good to us as well as the laws of averages and entropy. The latter law on and against the A5. We G5 and FCS fans just have to struggle harder. Which allows us to enjoy and appreciate more, the gold nuggets we get from time to time each season. Kind of like life for hard working, struggling people like me. This Tulane vs Houston game was a gold nugget in itself. Houston fans need to hold their heads up! Tulane is good! Very good! Back from their late 1990’s successes. We Bulldogs fans are in the same boat as you this season. Close losses vs good A5 and we have our Tulane-type game 3 weeks from this Saturday when we travel to Colorado Springs to face the Falcons of AFA. Hope we fair better than the UH Cougs did. We shall see.

Edit: Edit: Here’s another fact...only 3 FCS wins vs FBS so far. Kind of low, really. I think just a coincidence and not that FCS is falling away. I think FCS is in the same boat as G5 and will continue to struggle upwards, no matter how slowly. Citadel beat GATech, SIU Salukis beat UMass, Central Arkansas beat WKU...C Ark plays Hawaii tomorrow. Hawaii and Fresno have good FCS teams coming to their houses this weekend.
