Utah and D1
With Dixie State moving to D1 in the WAC, is Utah the only state with more than three universities where every four-year public school is in D1?
If you look only at states with 1-3 institutions, then Arizona, Delaware and Wyoming qualify. I'm not aware of any others. Utah will be at 6, so more than double the next state up.

RE: Utah and D1
I may be wrong, but it looks like all 9 of Tennessee's 4-year public schools are DI.
Iowa has all 3 of its 4-year public schools in DI.
Nevada has 2 of its 4-year public schools in DI, but the other 2 don't seem to have varsity athletics, so I don't know if you want to count that.

You are correct on Tennessee and Iowa.
Nevada like you said only has two with athletics, but two other 4 year without.

Louisiana has 12 division one universities which 11 are public. There are two 4 year public universities that are not D1 and are NAIA which have just added sports writhing the last 8 years or so.

Interesting.
Are there any other states with no DI schools except Alaska (hockey notwithstanding)? By my count there are 8 without FBS (Montana, North and South Dakota, Delaware, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine) plus DC.

Looks like three non-D1 institutions: LSU-Shreveport, LSU-Alexandria, and Southern-New Orleans.

LSUA
LSUS
Are the NAIA schools that I am referring too about just adding sports and I didn’t think SUNO had sports.

This isn't a huge surprise. Most 4-year public schools are D-1 unless they're branch campuses.
Ohio has 13 public schools. 11 are D1, 1 is D2, and 1 is NAIA.
Illinois has 12 public schools. 9 are D1, 1 is D2, 1 is NAIA, and 1 has no sports.
Indiana has 5 public schools. 4 are D1 and 1 is D2. Also of the 9 branch campuses, 2 are D1, 1 is D2, 5 are NAIA, and 1 is brand new (IU-Fort Wayne just split from IUPFW last year & hasn't established athletics yet to my knowledge).

Florida has only one non-D1 4 year state school with athletics (West Florida). Florida Poly has no sports.

D2 has a lot of public schools that aren't branch campuses. Lots of states have small publics under 10k students and lots are to be found in D2.

When I thought through my original post, I thought about Iowa but thought that Upper Iowa was public and didn't verify it.

Don't forget New College, also with no athletics. New College will never order athletics, and I'd be surprised if Poly does anytime in the next 10-15 years. At some point they may grow to the point of being in NAIA or maybe the D2 Sunshine Conference. NAIA is probably the better fit simply because there's not a D3 conference that would work for them, while NAIA and D2 have Florida-based options.
