Texas pokes the Tigers
Some interesting things happened in Austin the other night.

Texas apparently killed the A/C for their first 2 home games although AD Chris Del Conte denies it

From the Baton Rouge Advocate

Texas also stuck the LSU band and the entire visitor's section in the upper deck

WBRZ out of Baton Rouge

The Longhorns have absolutely no idea what they've just done.

I mean, you could have picked any random team in the country to mess with, but you screwed with LSU? And you did it BEFORE the return trip in Baton Rouge????

A sleeping giant has been awoken. This is a day that will live in infamy.

Thought the cool thing nowadays was to figure out which hotel the visiting team was staying at, and make noise all night long and/or pull the fire alarm

They've been doing that since before the 50's. The Aggies once kidnapped Bevo barbecued him and served him to Texas fans at the game. Auburn greased the RR tracks into the Auburn Depot so that the train slid past Auburn to a nearby community 5 miles away and Georgia Tech players had to walk 5 miles back to Auburn before playing. Army stole the Navy Goat. And MIT probably pulled the slickest one back in the 70's when at the 50 yard line of the Harvard / Yale game a massive black balloon emerged from under the turf at midfield with the letters M.I.T. on it. It had been planted well in advance of the season and remotely triggered. Quite a coup for a school with no football team.

Despite all of this nonsense, UT fans got to go home losers. Warms my heart.

Visitor teams, not in the B12, should refuse to play them in Austin if such behavior is prevalent. The B12 can address it in-conference. OU only plays them in Dallas. UNC has pulled this crap at Carmichael Auditorium for bb.

I want to see a ranking of the visitors locker rooms in the SEC. Part of the experience of college football should be to respect the opponent.

The SEC stood alone in this regard up until a year or two ago when the Big 10 finally forced Purdue to step it up with their lousy visiting facilities. Both the SEC and Big 10 have minimum standards now in place and that is how it should be everywhere that wants to call themselves a P conference. The P5 should have minimum standards which are uniformed.

Georgia Tech is always very proud of its "GT" at midfield. Since Jacket fans tore up our hedges, we returned the favor by stomping on their beloved midfield "GT" on year. GT administration hated that so much, they got rid of the midfield GT and replaced it with 2 GTs at each 30 yard line. Even better was a parade shortly after World War I. UGa had a tank that said " UGA in Argonne" and behind it a man riding a donkey with a banner that said " Tech in Atlanta.". Priceless!!!

RE: Texas pokes the Tigers
Fan, and even among some students, behavior that is destructive and cruel, need not be tolerated whatsoever. Often it is a small group, or sometimes an individual, that does it.

Destroying those beautiful, old oaks at Auburn, frat boys at Miss. State castrating a longhorn, or West Virginia a$$holes tossing batteries at opponent players, etc., must not be tolerated.

Most fans everywhere are generally respectful. But University officials, security personnel, coaches, stadium operators, etc., must be emphatic about what is harmless fun and pumping up enthusiasm, to what unacceptably crosses the line.

Penn State doubles the WVU crowds. PSU is controlled and civil. WVU showed much less civility. And WVU wonders why they are not in a closer P5 conference.

Beligerant drunks do ruin game day for many responsible fans Actually high ticket prices do keep away SOME of the offensive characters. And I do enjoy a beer or wine during tailgating. Celebrating doesn't require being outrageous.

Most Georgia fans are pretty nice as long as you are civil and respectful. Just please leave the hedge alone, because it is to Georgia fans what Toomer's Oaks are to Auburn fans. And I agree with you on the drinking, Odinfrigg. If players want to stomp on the G, that's within their rights, but don't be surprised if Coach Smart really runs up the score.

WVU fans are the LSU of the northeast.

Why would you cut the A/C ? Walking out from a stifling hot locker room would make the field feel like a spring breeze.

Not smart. A thinking man would crank up the A/C so that when they walk out, it feels like they're melting.

Just goes to show how intelligent B12 yahoos are.

Wonder if some visitor locker rooms are still painted pink?

Well, that may be better than the home team colors.

Color blue actually is associated with depression.
