RE: Asher O'hara -- Nearly 500 yards of total offense.
True, but he also is too quick to tuck it and run if his first two options aren't open. There's a balance between going through your progressions and realizing you have run out of time. He's only started two games, so he has a lot o learning yet to still do.

That said and while he is exciting and fun to watch he will lose a game for us this year, because just about everything he does has high reward - high risk. His M.O. to hurdle defenders is building quite a highlight reel but going to get him killed.

It's hard not to like the reckless abandon he plays with though...

He is going to pull that against the wrong defense and they are going to put him on blast.

Li'l Stock was never as quick or as reckless as this kid; but he was an effective runner before he cracked a sternum against Syracuse, and got several other bad injuries. After that, I thought Brent became hesitant and overly cautious. Afraid O'Hara will be "involuntarily slowin' down"too after a couple of LBs blow him up! Hope not.

Surprised Johnston won POW over O'hara this week.

Thought we would have both offensive and defensive. Blankenship's was definitely worthy.

Tennessee State is better than Akron.

RE: Asher O'hara -- Nearly 500 yards of total offense.
I just watched his juco highlights and love the kid. Too bad he plays for Middle. Great story of nobody offering him out of high school and only SIU and Middle offering him after freshman year of juco.

He really puts pressure on a dee with his feet. He has great instinct for changing direction to make people miss. But as many others have said, if he keeps trying to hurdle defenders I would think that may bite him eventually. Not great size but not frail. The wrong linebacker could hurt him on one of those hurdles. And as we saw with Stockstill once hurt I think it changes you. Tony Franklin has never minded putting his quarterbacks in situations with great reward great risk. He doesn’t have a cannon but he wasn’t throwing wounded ducks either by any means.

Get this DB. In complete agreement with you. It will be interesting to see if he changes course with his play - not necessarily due to injury - but that first time somebody lights his ass up because he zigged when he should have zagged and that 230 lb linebacker puts his headgear right underneath Asher's chinstrap.

We should get a pool going to predict which C-USA defender is going to get that kill shot. It's definitely coming.

I will say he looks more agile than Stockstill ever looked, at least to my “fan’s eye”

I hate to see any kid hurt but it happens in football. It will be interesting because he has swag for sure. You don’t make FBS qb without having swag. Every kid at that position has it or they never would have made it that far. I just hope he doesn’t get hurt too bad. Maybe pull a hammy before we play him lol. But he certainly looks like a good one. Nice eye by Stockstill or Franklin or whoever offered him.

I was always puzzled when I saw little Stock take off on a called run. There’s a reason you never saw that happen with Doughty. He was just too valuable as a thrower. I thought little Stock was too. To me it was short term gain with too much risk for Stock. Although he got hurt on a bogus hit against Syracuse I believe. That can happen to any quarterback.

I love a underdog story in any sport. This kid has one. Almost 500 yards was certainly a coming out party I don’t care who it was against.

Maybe Dean Hayes needs to get him on the track team and run some 400 M hurdles?
