Game 2: Virginia Cavaliers
Friday September 6th at 8:00
Charlottesville
ACC Network

My keys to the game:
Stay healthy
Stop the run, particularly between OTs
DL need to penetrate
Get our TEs involved
Improve tackling
Cause 4+ turnovers
Protect the ball
Hit FGs

Game 2: Virginia Cavaliers
Tribe open as 34.5 point dogs. I guess Vegas wasn't impressed by our win vs Lafayette.

Yeah, that seems big to me. UVA is good this year, but not that good.

Still, London has some good history against large point spreads...

William & Mary got 10 votes in the AFCA coaches poll, FWIW.

Early season polls. Boy. Villanova smoked Colgate. Colgate went on to get trounced by Air Force too. Still ranked while Nova has 3 votes. But I will take the votes for the Tribe and smile.

No real surprises. Dulaney in at LS and now down to two QBs.

RE: Game 2: Virginia Cavaliers
It would be a dream if we had held the playbook back, as well as, the uptempo pace, against Lafayette, only to unleash an unexpected surprise this Friday, and allow London and our predominately UVA staff to reap some redemption. The staff won't be overwhelmed and hopefully their familiarity translates well to team confidence and execution in the environment.

Reality I fear will be different. Hopefully it will not result in any major injuries, and we will be more competitive than expected, with our young and new players gaining alot of growth and confidence from the experience. We have a few talented freshmen who, I am sure, would love nothing more than to go back to their Pittsburgh stomping grounds with some bragging rights. Just need to keep improving toward CAA play.

Weather forecast looks good now, but could change depending on Dorian's track.

This is just speculation, but I would think we’d see a lot more Kilton Anderson on Friday. He should have some experience playing in larger atmospheres.

I don't think that Hollis is scared by any means. I would definitely like to see both play, and as much as it goes against the grain, it may work for much of the season. UVA is going to look past us and assume we can't play. It think we will put points on the board.

Richmond got 16 votes --- based, apparently, on their 38-19 win over the mighty Jacksonville Dolphins of the Pioneer Football League (yes, even Lafayette is a step above that). In the STATS/FCS Football poll, UR got 19 votes. W&M got zero. Moral of the story: polls are arbitrary and, since this is FCS which has a season-ending playoff, don't really matter at all. (But, seriously, 19 votes for Richmond?).

RE: Game 2: Virginia Cavaliers
UVA should have its strongest team in quite some time...for the first time ever they are picked to win their ACC Division and they looked good winning a tough road game at Pitt last weekend. They are big, mobile, fast and have more depth than in recent years. We should not delude ourselves about our chances in this game. Sure a monumental upset is possible,
but, realistically I look for growth from last week for our offense and a reasonable showing. We'll see.

For those with Comcast, alternative watching options are Hulu, You Tube TV and VUE.

Pitt is certainly better than Lafayette but they are not a good team. At least not yet.
Especially with a really young and inexperienced offensive line the first game of the season. Their defense did a lot of good things against the Cavs but their offense stood no chance. Still, your point is well taken. I will honestly be happy with a good fight for a half. After that, we just don't have the numbers. I'm up on our team...but we are playing a tough FBS opponent. Not West Virginia. : )

So, let's just forfeit our games vs UVA and Elon since we, evidently, have no chance.

Tribal, I am guessing that you meant ECU, not Elon.

No, evidently, we have no chance to beat Elon, either. Mr. Bean even agreed to buy Sandy a beer if we beat Elon. According to our most ardent fans, we were as good as 0-4 before the season even started.

Sorry. Guess I missed the conversation about Elon.
