This whole thread has not aged well. This thread was made to deride the AAC and yet the AAC finished one of its strongest years ever.

Yep. 4 ranked teams, squarely ahead of the PAC12, ACC, and Big 12. Behind only the B1G and SEC.

CUSA with 0 teams, again.

Yet somehow, CUSA fans are still attempting flames?

Are you referring to the same UConn team that is 1-3 in AAC play?

The AAC is 7th in RPI with 2 teams ranked. Hmm, where does CUSA rank?

Yes, that's the UCONN we're talking about. You know, the one that used to win national championships before joining the lowly AAC. But since joining the lowly AAC, UCONN can't recruit top athletes anymore, because --well, they are in the AAC. LOL! 03-lmfao
That's a coaching issue not an AAC issue. Memphis, Houston and Wichita St. don't have problems getting top caliber recruits. That's why Kevin Olie was fired. He was only successful with Calhoun recruits. You need more than a conference name to get top recruits. Olie couldn't close the deal on those recruits. Uconn's name brand should of been enough to get better recruits.

I'm sorry....when was the last time Memphis, Houston and Wichita St won a national championship in mens basketball?

That's what I thought. 03-lmfao

Imagine making this comment, then realizing that UConn's last national title was as a member of the AAC?

This thread should serve as a lesson to a lot of you La Tech folks - think before you post. Have some sliver of idea as to what you're talking about before mindlessly trying to flame the AAC.

PS- here's mighty UConn, posting a $42M Athletics loss in 2019 with their dumpster fire football program losing $10M. That's why they're bailing - they are a horrible program that desperately needs football to drop to FCS and basketball desperately needed a regional bball league to reduce costs.

But, I am sure you will swiftly ignore all of these facts and continue mindlessly flaming with incorrect facts and wild assumptions.

http://www.courant.com/sports/hc-sp-ucon...story.html

The recruiting for that NC title didn't happen while they were in the ACC numbskull. I knew some idiot would make that mistake, and sure enough, it was YOU!~ 03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao

You must be a special kind of stupid. Did I say any of them won a national championship? No I didn't. I said they can and have recruited top recruits will in the AAC. Lets try and keep up shall we?

RE: Power 6
With the ESPN-sky-is-falling thread, I was shocked that this thread has fallen off the front page of the forum!

So, here are the preseason SP+ projections from Bill Connelly:
18 - AAC #1 UCF
22 - AAC #2 Memphis
34 - AAC #3 Cincinnati
38 - mwc #1
39 - SunBelt #1
51 - SunBelt #2
55 - AAC #4 Navy
56 - AAC #5 SMU
57 - CUSA #1 WKU
63 - AAC #6 Houston
(Quick interruption - here we are, top half of the AAC ALL above the overall college football medianand three of the G4 conferences have one or two reps)
65 - mwc #2
67 - MAC #1
68 - CUSA #2 UAB
70 - CUSA #3 FAU
72 - AAC #7 Temple
73 - AAC #8 Tulane
74 - mwc #3
77 - CUSA #4 Marshall
79 - mwc #4
80 - MAC #2
82 - MAC #3
83 - AAC #9 USF
84 - MAC #4
85 - SunBelt #3
86 - SunBelt #4
87 - CUSA #5 Southern Miss
88 - AAC #10 Tulsa
(So, here we are through the AAC's tenth best projected team, last year's 4-8(2-6) Golden Hurricane, and no other non-contract-bowl-conferences are at their median...let's just skip ahead)

THE WORST AAC TEAM IS:
96 - AAC #11 ECU followed by
97-127 seven of twelve OVER HALF the MAC teams
99-122 HALF the mwc teams
103-123 HALF the SunBelt teams
106-130 eight of fourteen OVER HALF the CUSA teams

Maybe 2019 will be just as strong for the P6 AAC as 2018 was...

Middle of the pack in that one-bid league.
Women's Lacrosse is ranked though -- and just as relevant to discussion of P6 status in DI FBS football as MBB is.

Trash talking with Preseason Rankings, yet The G5 access to the CFP is the same for MWC, CUSA, AAC, Sunbelt, MAC.

Too bad the AAC has been a very poor rep for the G5 the last two years getting blown out in the NY6 game.

Bumping a thread over a month old. I'm laughing at you. I guess when you suck at basketball you have nothing better to do. Loser.

I'll try to better explain the bump: the perpetrator of this thread started an ESPN is failing thread, and was called out by another CUSA poster for starting that one only due to an obsession with the AAC.
I then saw that this had fallen off the front page, and wanted to ensure CUSA fans get the AAC talk that they seem to crave (count up who is posting in this thread - majority NOT American fans).

(However, with rep change, I'm pulling my reference to it where I can)

The SP+ rankings were just my hook. I suppose I could have gone with Massey Composite's recent update to compiling 102 rankings and having AAC #5 ahead of #6 ACC. Closer to #1 SEC than to the SunBelt, CUSA, or MAC.

Stay classy Navy fan! Nothing but respect from me for all the service academies and their fans. I was in Fort Worth in 2016 for our instant-classic bowl game! Great game and thoroughly enjoyed mixing with Navy fans before the game and afterwards, including at our hotel. PURE CLASS all the way.

CUSA is....well, very mediocre! In fact I'd say we excel at mediocrity. Oh well...still love college football and supporting my alma mater. It's all good!

Cant believe anyone is trying to argue against the strength of the AAC at this point. They’re certainly have some warts, but they’re decidedly ahead of the other non-P5 conferences.

No he’s right, we had this coming. Start a thread like this and you’re bound to get all kinds of responses from P6 fans. Those SEC, BIG10, PAC12, BIG12 ,ACC, etc. fans will come out of the woodwork for this **** and it won’t seem desperate at all when they post insanely early preseason rankings.

Surprised the mighty AAC fans come to visit our lowly CUSA board. You would think with how much better they are, they'd just leave it alone.

Let them drink their AAC koolaid. You should’ve seen them before we trashed SMU. They love to talk but outside of UCF not one of them has backed up the talk with on the field performance.

You might want to check the scoreboard from 1 Sep 2017.
Navy posted a 23 point win over an FAU team that would then run undefeated through the CUSA part if the schedule.Hardest part of that night was the lengthy lightning delays.

Just when you think you've seen it all, a Navy fan comes to the CUSA board and trash talks on behalf of his school's "Women's Lacrosse" team, and literally states that it's a relevant program. LOL! Oh gawd, you just can't make this stuff up! 03-lmfao
