RE: 2019 Football Attendance Tracker
UNT has a couple of chances to sellout this season, but it will depend on the product on the field (UNT fans are extremely fickle). If we go into the UTSA game 3-0 (wins over Cal, SMU, & ACU) this game will be a sellout. If we go in to the UTSA game 2-1 (win over SMU & ACU with a close loss to Cal) we will be near max capacity (28kish). If we go in 1-2 we will be around 20-22k.

Confused...How did ODU not sell out for their brand new stadium and playing a local FCS school?

RE: 2019 Football Attendance Tracker
ODU was a sell out. I believe we had fewer general seating tickets available for this game, because we allowed our crosstown school to bring their large band, etc.

I don't believe this has ever been discussed. The numbers posted are counted same way Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, Michigan and Notre Dame count their attendance.

However, we may have just learned that UAB counts people in parking lots within a 1 mile radius of Legion field.

Wait, wut!??? No way.

That is no true.

39,000 was announced at the game. The following day the Legion Field folks announced via twitter that the count was actually 46,000. They later clarified that the 46k number included tailgaters that did not enter the stadium. The correct number was the number announced at the game - 39,000.

Well according to WKU's student newspapers latest article, we should fold the football program. Pretty much told students, alum, fans etc. why even bother to show up? We have a special sports writer this year looks like....Pretty much said he's not going to be like the other sports writers in the past and tell you to show up and act like something we are not.....I bet our AD and president are not too happy with this guy, what a joke!

People just need to realize what WKU is going through is what we will all go through when we have multiple really good seasons, back to back. We lose that coach and start over. It will test the most loyal of fans, but for a writer to encourage fans to not support the team is not helpful.

Agreed, this same paper also said WKU basketball is spending too much money on assistants for such little success we have had...

RE: 2019 Football Attendance Tracker
Stadium seats 22,500 but announced attendance was 21,900?

I'm not doubting you guys when you say you sold it out, but why not report it as such?

It's tickets sold. Gameday staff, Norfolk State band, SB Ballard Construction Team (the guys who built the stadium) did not count against the tickets sold. I assume the number will be higher for ECU.

If anyone does this, I want to let them know that because of renovations to the Sun Bowl the seating capacity has been reduced by 8k. So the capacity now sits at 42K. That makes the 34k that UTEP had a little more impressive. What others might not know is that UTEP put tickets on sale for $5 on Friday only.

What I'll do is at the end of the season show the average against capacity as a percentage.

What's your strategy for games like Rice hosting Texas at NRG? It's a home game for us and I expect the attendance to be over the current Rice Stadium capacity.

I like that the goal is more butts in the seats, and less concern about ticket revenue. I know some programs are focused primarily on total revenue (butts x ticket price), but I support that UTEP is doing what it needs to to fill the stadium. 04-cheers
