I guess it could have been worse and I think we will be better this year....we have some talent on defense and it played pretty good.....we lost the 2nd half 3-0, not bad.......I know in the 4th quarter they were giving some guys playing time but the defense looked good!!! The offense, well, with all the mistakes it's hard to tell and I didn't get to see the whole game.......As I've said many times before, Tulsa is not and never will be a good running team against good teams..........all of Tulsa's great teams did one thing, PASS.......at a school like Tulsa we can get a decent QB and a few decent receivers but we are never going to get great lineman for the run........If Monty wants to keep his job, he better be passing 75+% of the time and train the lineman to pass block.......if he does, he'll be a winning coach and attract better QB's and better receivers. We will be OK in the AAC with our defense!!!!!!!!!!!

RE: Michigan State
Not sure either of our first two games will tell us much about the team this year.
Michigan St is ridiculous against the run and just an overall good defensive team.
We should obliterate San Jose even at their house.
Our team probably lies somewhere south of the great game I expect against San Jose and the rough looking group that got beat up some on Friday.
I would like to see Monty succeed as he seems a very good person, but anything less than a bowl season and it's time to part ways.

Also we do have some Tulsa fans who check the board, with it only being a handful though we tend to stay on the main/general board to try and keep threads going. You may get more replies there.
